Hello and welcome back for the conclusion of Jimmy Moore’s excellent interview with New York Times journalist and bestselling author Gary Taubes!
In September 2007, Gary published Good Calories, Bad Calories, the book-length version of his groundbreaking 2002 op-ed piece on the subject of the healthy low carb lifestyle entitled “What If It’s All Been A Big Fat Lie?”
In this episode, Gary Taubes continues his discussion of his book, including how much he initially hated that title for his book until his wife convinced him otherwise, the impact of carbohydrate calories on weight, the change of heart that Dr. Andrew Weil has had regarding low-carb, the theories espoused by low-fat diet guru Dr. Dean Ornish, and what can be done to influence the health authorities about the positive impact of low-carb living.
Jimmy continues to ask Gary some great listener-submitted questions as well as a few of his own that are well worth listening in for what he has to say. Take it all in and then share your comments about the Taubes interview below or by calling our listener comment line at (206) 202-6516.

Welcome to the most popular low-carb podcast available on this or any other planet–“The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show With Jimmy Moore!”
In today’s Episode 137, our host Jimmy is proud to present two fantastic interviews about the documentary you may have heard about low-carb called My Big Fat Diet. This film is only available for viewing in Canada at the moment (except for 3 lucky listeners today–stay tuned!), but it is an amazing chronicle of Dr. Jay Wortman and his effort to treat the health problems of an entire First Nation village by convincing them to embrace the diet of their ancestors. As a fellow First Nation citizen, Dr. Wortman knows this means a diet high in fat and specifically heavy in something called oolichan grease, which is like a fishy olive oil.
In the first segment of this episode, Jimmy talks with the documentary’s producer Mary Bissell who attended the American Society of Bariatric Physicians and Nutrition & Metabolism conference in Phoenix, AZ last month to show her one-hour flick to doctors (with an enthusiastic response) followed by a second segment with Dr. Wortman himself. You won’t want to miss this fantastic podcast show!
ALSO: Listen in for details about our special contest that will award 3 copies of the My Big Fat Diet DVD (compliments of Mary Bissell) to three lucky listeners!!
