LISTEN AND DOWNLOAD AT ITUNES

Have you gotten your copy of Jimmy Moore and Dr. Eric Westman’s new book Keto Clarity: Your Definitive Guide to the Benefits of a Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet yet? If so, then you are probably already a big fan of the frequent “Moment Of Clarity” quotes located every few paragraphs from the 22 featured experts Jimmy hand-selected to interview and include in the book. On this podcast, we’ve been sharing BRAND NEW INTERVIEWS with most of the 22 featured experts in the book as we give you the listeners a further glimpse into the heart and soul of what makes Keto Clarity such an awesome and unique resource for people desiring to attain the health improvements that come from being in ketosis. These interviews just keep coming!

Today’s Keto Clarity expert interview is with a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa and a staff physician at the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Hospital named Dr. Terry Wahls. She teaches medical students and resident physicians about applying nutritional therapies to improve the health of their patients and sees patients and does clinical research herself with traumatic brain injury as well as complex chronic health problems that often include multiple autoimmune disorders. Dr. Wahls is famous for being a patient with a chronic progressive neurological disorder: secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, which confined her to a tilt-recline wheelchair for four years which she chronicled in her famous 2011 TEDx Iowa City talk Minding Your Mitochondria. She credits the Wahls Protocol, which is based on functional medicine, with restoring her health, enabling her to now ride her bike five miles to work every day. She released a book in 2014 about her experience called The Wahls Protocol: How I Beat Progressive MS Using Paleo Principles and Functional Medicine. Listen to Jimmy and Dr. Wahls look further into why a micronutrition-rich low-carb, high-fat, ketogenic diet is such a powerful modality in treating so many of the chronic health problems of our day. We’ve still got a couple more weeks worth of Keto Clarity expert interviews to share and they just keep getting better and better.

Iraq war veteran, standup comedian, and Paleo visionary Will White is our interview guest today in Episode 846 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

LISTEN AND DOWNLOAD AT ITUNES

Every successful movement needs visionaries who can assess the current trends and make educated predictions about what will happen in the future. That’s the role that Denver, CO-based Paleo advocate Will White from “Caveman Cafeteria” has taken on in the Paleo community seeing how to make this lifestyle sustainable from a business perspective to help the message remain relevant to the masses who need to hear about it. You might recall his Kickstarter campaign to open the first Paleo food stand in Denver in 2013 and now he’s turned to focusing on his very successful Paleo meal delivery service along with offering Paleo nutrition coaching from his company’s in-house nutritionist Heather Kelly.

Listen to Jimmy and Will have quite the eclectic conversation about a wide variety of subjects, including how he got interested in fitness and eventually finding Crossfit, his Kickstarter campaign to start a Paleo food truck and catering business in Denver, Colorado, why a food truck is a good business model “if you’re not very good at math,” the incredible difficulty of making a profitable business as a Paleo restaurant, why he believes a healthy Paleo meal delivery service is the future moneymaking business opportunity, the success of a similar meal delivery service called The Fresh Diet, why he chose the term “caveman” in his business name instead of Paleo or ancestral, his in-house nutritionist Heather Kelly from “OPENutrition” who promotes Paleo nutrition to customers, his #FeedARevolution passion he lives by, why average, everyday people aren’t as conscious of the issue of food sustainability, how close we are to the “vertical farming” concept being a reality, why people need to stop relying on the government to do things for us, how Paleo convinced him that we are self-sufficient as individuals and don’t need help, the problem with giving doctors an incentive to promote drugs, Robb Wolf’s work with the first responders in Reno, Nevada, the new marijuana edibles brand he’s developing called Low Carb High, and more. Will is a bit eccentric and some might say just a little crazy. But we could use more forward-thinking people like him to bring Paleo to the forefront of mainstream thinking.

844: Brent Britton Committed To Helping Paleo Bloggers Protect Their Intellectual Property

Paleo enthusiast and intellectual property, patent, and trademark attorney Brent Britton is our interview guest today in Episode 844 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

LISTEN AND DOWNLOAD AT ITUNES

Most of the interview guests we invite on to the podcast have something to contribute in the realm of diet, fitness and health. But today we wanted to shift gears slightly by inviting on a Tampa, FL-based lawyer named Brent C.J. Britton who specializes in intellectual property and helping keep start-up companies legal. As a fan of the Paleo diet personally, Brent is committed to helping Paleo bloggers, podcasters and other content producers protect the content they are producing to prevent others from stealing it. He’s written a beginner’s guide to this topic entitled Ownability: How Intellectual Property Works and shares some of the insights from his book in today’s show.

Listen in to hear Jimmy and Brent discuss how he blogs as the “Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer,” his background in computer science that turned to the law, his friend Joe Salama introduced him to Paleo in 2011 with “astounding results,” why he’s not bothered by the criticisms of the “caveman” imagery, what Paleo and low-carb content makers can do to protect their intellectual property (and why it may not be a big deal), why people feel comfortable taking content from the Internet, any content redistribution needs proper attribution, what you can do if someone takes your content and reposts it on their website, how to deal with someone overtly stealing content online and selling them as e-books (if they are profiting from it, then they are ripe for being sued), the case of Steve Cooksey who got sued for giving dietary advice, how people blogging in the Paleo or low-carb community should be careful with the disclaimer they display on their page to avoid legal ramifications, why using the phrase “no copyright intended” is meaningless, if you get something from a company at no charge then you must disclose that information, the CMP.LY disclosure that I use with my sponsors, the interesting way people view the Internet (it’s taboo to make money on it in the eyes of many people), how it doesn’t cost you a dime to access the LLVLC content, why incorporating as a business is vitally important, why grabbing the URL and form an LLC doesn’t give you the trademark to any particular name, the importance of “get it in writing,” the controversy over who owns the trademark to “The Paleo Diet” (Dr. Loren Cordain holds it), how “The Paleo Diet” was more distinctive in the past but not as much now, if you want to create a unique name with “Paleo” then use more words, and so much more! There’s a plethora of invaluable information in this podcast that can help you if you blog, podcast, do YouTube videos, or have a social media presence sharing about healthy Paleo or low-carb living!

842: Sarah Fragoso Honors The Thai Cuisine In Her New Paleo Cookbook

Screen Shot 2014-07-13 at 9.01.44 PM

Paleo mom blogger, podcaster, and bestselling cookbook author Sarah Fragoso is our interview guest today in Episode 842 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

LISTEN AND DOWNLOAD AT ITUNES

It was about one year ago that we featured a podcast with today’s featured interview guest as she released her debut book in a series of Paleo cookbooks finding inspiration from international cuisines. That first trip was to Italy, but today Sarah Fragoso from “Everyday Paleo” is back sharing about the next stop on her world tour–THAILAND! The new book is called Everyday Paleo Thai Cuisine: Authentic Recipes Made Gluten-free and contains some rather interesting recipes and insights into the Thai food and culture.

Listen in as Jimmy and Sarah joke about co-hosting a podcast together, discuss the interesting challenges she faced while in Thailand (HOLY GUACAMOLE!), the lack of education on quality food ingredients in Thailand, they are inundated with soybean oil and told it’s the healthy fat to use, the “white substance” the locals kept putting on her food, why they cook for convenience rather than health (and being misinformed about what’s good for them), why Americans should care about the food culture of other countries, the restaurants in Thailand are Thai food almost exclusively, the respect they expect for the ingredients used in the Thai cuisine, the challenge of making sauces with Paleo ingredients, her homemade oyster sauce made with real oysters and coconut aminos, how traveling to other countries has given her exposure to new ingredients (stink beans!) she would have never known about, if you find stink beans in America then Sarah will send you a FREE COPY of her book, what she put in her mouth that tasted like something died, the “fishy gut sauce” soup she struggled to get down, her foray into eating scorpion (tastes like shrimp!), how her children dealt with being exposed to the Thai culture, the major cultural differences between America and Thailand, whether she saw people with obesity and diabetes there, why she didn’t want to glaze over the problems that exist in Southeast Asia, how their stress levels are so much lower than Westernized society, how coming back to America from Thailand “took time to adjust” again, how she handled the white rice issue in her book (“Have you had your rice today?” is a common greeting), how you can adapt any of her recipes to your specific nutritional needs, the Deep Fried Pork recipe I loved from her book (Sarah’s favorite street food in Thailand that she ate everyday–it’s “umptuous”), Sarah recommends the Stir Fried Crispy Pork Belly recipe for low-carbers, and so much more! It’s always a delight to share the great work of Sarah Fragoso and today’s podcast is no different. ENJOY!

846: Will White Envisions Where The Paleo Diet Will Be In 25 Years

ENJOY!

846: Will White Envisions Where The Paleo Diet Will Be In 25 Years

ENJOY!

ENJOY!

846: Will White Envisions Where The Paleo Diet Will Be In 25 Years

Screen Shot 2014-07-21 at 7.32.43 PM

ENJOY!

Real food-based Paleo and ketogenic nutrition physician and researcher Dr. Terry Wahls is our interview guest today in a series of exclusive podcasts featuring the various experts from Jimmy Moore’s new book Keto Clarity in Episode 860 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

846: Will White Envisions Where The Paleo Diet Will Be In 25 Years

Screen Shot 2014-07-21 at 7.32.43 PM

ENJOY!

ENJOY!
