Jimmy has hand-selected all of the fantastic guest hosts
you’ve been hearing over the past few months while he’s been away writing his next book Keto Clarity: Your Definitive Guide to the Benefits of a Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet. And today we have one of his favorite fellow health podcasters filling in for him in the velvet-voiced Angelo Coppola from the “Latest in Paleo” podcast and the “Humans Are Not Broken” blog. Listen in as he deconstructs the recent study that made headlines around the world declaring, “Meat and cheese may be as bad as smoking.” Angelo invites on a British nutritional health specialist named Zoe Harcombe to join him for an interview where they dive much deeper into this study than what was done in the mainstream media. He also draws from a recent article written by Denise Minger to share what could be much more useful advice for longevity and extending life than this so-called study.

Screen Shot 2014-03-02 at 7.26.44 PM

Low-carb, high-fat diet advocate and physician Dr. Ron Rosedale is our guest today for this LLVLC Show Classic from our golden archives in Episode 789 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

LISTEN AND DOWNLOAD AT ITUNES

Today we have an unforgettable LLVLC Show Classic episode featuring a low-carb, high-fat physician named Dr. Ron Rosedale, author of The Rosedale Diet. Long before his infamous appearance on Jimmy’s ‘Safe Starches’ Panel at the 2012 Ancestral Health Symposium (AHS12), Dr. Rosedale was speaking with Jimmy about about why he wanted to learn more about nutrition, how the low-carb diet concepts really aren’t new, the greater importance of leptin over insulin, why hunger happens, the role of calories on a low-carb diet, why he doesn’t read other diet and nutrition books, the maniacal nature of nutritional studies bending towards pharmaceutical solutions, the movement by the government to make vitamins more difficult to obtain, the cardiovascular risks of taking statin drugs, the diabetes drugs that are giving patients cancer, how he has been on the cutting-edge of moderating protein intake when all other low-carb supporters were talking about high-protein, why he calls for limiting saturated fat consumption in the first few weeks of beginning his plan, why cholesterol is so important inside the body, the correlation between low cholesterol and cancer, his views on limiting omega-6 fat sources to balance fatty acids and why it’s nearly impossible to reach optimal levels in modern society without completely eliminating omega-6 fatty acid sources, why eggs and nuts are nature’s perfect low-carb foods, the impossibility of knowing what the perfect fat/protein/carb ratio is ideal for someone, how what we eat isn’t that same thing as what our cells are consuming, and how to determine the ideal amount of protein to consume in your meals. This is one of our all-time favorite interviews and one worth listening to if you missed it the first time around. It’s an LLVLC Show Classic episode you won’t soon forget!

UK-based personal trainer, fat loss expert, and podcaster Sam Feltham guest hosts and interviews real food-based British cardiologist Dr. Aseem Malhotra in Episode 787 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

You probably remember today’s guest host from his conversation with Jimmy last year in Episode 739 discussing his amazing 5,000-calorie self-experiments testing the flawed calorie hypothesis. His name is Sam Feltham from “Smash The Fat” and accompanying iTunes health podcast and he’s here today presenting a sensational interview with a nutrition-minded cardiologist and writer named Dr. Aseem Malhotra who made headlines in October 2013 when he published a paper in the British Medical Journal entitled “Saturated Fat Is Not The Major Issue” that pulled the rug out from under the low-fat nutritional lie we have been fed for the past three decades. Listen in as Sam and Dr. Malhotra discuss the paradigm shift happening with saturated fat, the failure of the obesity initiatives that have been proposed by mainstream health experts, and why his Action On Sugar coalition is needed to educate the public on the dangers of sugar on health. This is an insightful conversation you won’t want to miss!

It’s Wednesday again and you know what that means while Jimmy has been away writing his next book, Keto Clarity. We’ve enjoyed featuring these LLVLC Show Classic episodes from deep within our golden archives of hundreds of health-enriching conversations Jimmy has had with various people over the years. Today we have a special double-feature for you on the topic of ketogenic diets and epilepsy. The first interview features Dr. Deborah Snyder, author of Keto Kid: Helping Your Child Succeed on the Ketogenic Diet, whose son Bryce was cured of epilepsy after going on a two-year stint following a low-carb, ketogenic diet. Although ketosis has long been known as an effective therapy for controlling seizures, it’s people like Dr. Snyder and the work of The Charlie Foundation who have helped to promote this cutting-edge, science-based treatment and the positive effects it is having on epileptic children.

Then in the second interview, we have a legendary epilepsy specialist and Johns Hopkins researcher named Dr. Eric Kossoff, author of Ketogenic Diets: Treatments For Epilepsy And Other Disorders. Do not miss this exciting chat that Jimmy had with Dr. Kossoff about his “modified Atkins diet” as a treatment for epilepsy. Listen in as they discuss other illnesses that could stand to benefit from a ketogenic diet, how to make a 5 grams of carbs daily diet work for a kid, and so much more!

Jimmy and Christine are so excited that they’ll be returning to Australia and New Zealand later this year for the 2014 Low Carb Down Under Tour–check LowCarbDownUnder.com.au in the coming months for full details.

Today’s featured lectures are with Dr. Troy Stapleton, a 42-year old radiologist who learned in October 2012 that he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and he started the standard diabetic dietary recommendations (low-fat diet with “healthy” whole grain intake) for two months after his diagnosis. After that failed him, he did some extensive research and switched over to a very low-carbohydrate diet in December 2012 with remarkable success. Listen to hear his personal journey and the science behind the LCHF approach. Here’s the video footage of this presentation from the 2013 Low-Carb Down Under Seminar Series:

LISTEN AND DOWNLOAD AT ITUNES

Here’s the air date schedule (with links to ones already aired):

Then you’ll hear from Dr. Zeeshan Arain, a Melbourne-based General Practitioner and current team doctor for the Melbourne Demons AFL team. His initial interest in nutrition and metabolism began several years ago when he was increasingly frustrated at being overweight despite eating a low-fat diet and exercising regularly.

With gratitude to Dr. Rod Tayler (listen to Jimmy’s interview with him in Episode 578) for granting exclusive access to these invaluable talks, we are excited to be sharing these with you to kick off the new year the right way. Jimmy and Christine are so excited that they’ll be returning to Australia and New Zealand later this year for the 2014 Low Carb Down Under Tour–check LowCarbDownUnder.com.au in the coming months for full details.

Here’s the air date schedule (with links to ones already aired):

Then you’ll hear from Dr. Zeeshan Arain, a Melbourne-based General Practitioner and current team doctor for the Melbourne Demons AFL team. His initial interest in nutrition and metabolism began several years ago when he was increasingly frustrated at being overweight despite eating a low-fat diet and exercising regularly. He has become a staunch advocator of low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) nutrition in the prevention of disease, weight loss and optimum quality of life. His presentation shares about his experience using nutritional ketosis with a variety of health benefits including weight loss, diabetes control, cardiovascular disease, cancer and more.

EPISODE 758: Professor Grant Schofield and Christine Cronau
EPISODE 759: Dr. Peter Brukner

Then you’ll hear from Dr. Zeeshan Arain, a Melbourne-based General Practitioner and current team doctor for the Melbourne Demons AFL team. His initial interest in nutrition and metabolism began several years ago when he was increasingly frustrated at being overweight despite eating a low-fat diet and exercising regularly. He has become a staunch advocator of low-carb, high-fat (LCHF) nutrition in the prevention of disease, weight loss and optimum quality of life. His presentation shares about his experience using nutritional ketosis with a variety of health benefits including weight loss, diabetes control, cardiovascular disease, cancer and more. you’ve been hearing over the past few months while he’s been away writing his next book Keto Clarity: Your Definitive Guide to the Benefits of a Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet.

Listen in as Sam and Dr. Malhotra discuss the paradigm shift happening with saturated fat, the failure of the obesity initiatives that have been proposed by mainstream health experts, and why his Action On Sugar coalition is needed to educate the public on the dangers of sugar on health.

Listen to hear his personal journey and the science behind the LCHF approach. Here’s the video footage of this presentation from the 2013 Low-Carb Down Under Seminar Series:

Listen in as they discuss other illnesses that could stand to benefit from a ketogenic diet, how to make a 5 grams of carbs daily diet work for a kid, and so much more!

you’ve been hearing over the past few months while he’s been away writing his next book Keto Clarity: Your Definitive Guide to the Benefits of a Low-Carb, High-Fat Diet.
