Over the past few years, the awareness of the dangers of consuming wheat has spread like wildfire thanks to runaway bestselling books like Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis and Grain Brain by Dr. David Perlmutter have shone a bright light on the negative health consequences of eating foods with wheat in them–which is practically everything in the processed food supply! Now Australian nutritionist and documentary filmmaker Cyndi O’Meara from ChangingHabits.com.au adds her voice to the conversation with the release of her compelling new documentary film entitled “What’s With Wheat?” featuring many familiar faces from the Paleo and low-carb communities, including Dr. Perlmutter, Dr. Terry Wahls, Joel Salatin, Dr. Stephanie Seneff, Pete Evans, Sally Fallon, Mark Sisson, and many more! Cyndi has become increasing frustrated by the traditional guidelines that promote low-fat diets as the be-all, end-all diet for everyone. Now she’s leading the charge from her home country of Australia to change the food habits of people worldwide.

Listen in as Jimmy and Cyndi discuss her journey to becoming a nutritionist, why she decided to start bucking the trend from the conventional nutritional wisdom, why she created her documentary film, the hope she had for making this film, and so much more! As this message continues to go mainstream, it’s important to have voices like Cyndi O’Meara leading the charge.

With the rise in popularity of the concept of dieting from every angle, including Paleo and low-carb, there is growing skepticism by some people about whether any of them are viable requiring what they think is the unnecessary restriction of some food, ingredient, or macronutrient. This is something that concerned endurance sports writer and certified sports nutritionist Matt Fitzgerald so much that he decided to address what he describes as the failure of the “one-size-fits-all” nutritional approach in his provocatively-titled 2014 book Diet Cults: The Surprising Fallacy at the Core of Nutrition Fads and a Guide to Healthy Eating for the Rest of US. This book has already been quite controversial in the health community which is why Jimmy wanted to speak with Matt about the premise of his new book.

Listen in as Jimmy and Matt have an engaging conversation about how the diet industry has gotten it all wrong, the belief that every diet is predicated on being the “single right way” to health, why the most prudent approach is the one that is customized to the individual (the philosophy that Jimmy has long held about diet–find the proven plan that works for you and do it for the rest of your life making appropriate tweaks along the way), why nutritional science is pretty much bogus, how even the Paleo and low-carb diet can be wrongly promoted as the only way, how an agnostic belief in diet may or may not necessarily be a good idea, how to customize the diet plan that will work for you, and so much more. This was one of the most engaging interviews Jimmy has had in a while which always makes for great podcasting. ENJOY!

One of the best parts of the tremendous growth of the Paleo movement in recent years is the incredible diversity we are seeing of the people who are involved in promoting it to others. Having a wide variety of voices giving their own take on what a Paleo-styled cuisine can look like is going to help make this way of living more accepted and go mainstream faster than anything else. This is something nutritionist and Paleo blogger Caitlin Weeks from the “Grass Fed Girl” blog along with her professional chef husband Nabil Boumrar know just a thing or two about.

Nabil specializes in the Mediterranean cuisine he grew up with as a native of the coastal capitol Algiers, Algeria which inspired his passion of blending Arab, African and European flavors to make unique Paleo dishes unlike anything you’ve tasted before. With Caitlin’s heavy involvement in the Paleo community in recent years, it made sense that she and Nabil would team up to create a fabulous new e-bookbook entitled Mediterranean Paleo Cookbook: Over 135 Grain-Free Recipes To Tempt Your Palate. Listen in as Jimmy speaks with Caitlin and Nabil about the unique kind of recipes inspired by Nabil’s family that they share about in their e-book.

From a total lack of concentration, brain fog, afternoon fatigue and general sense of things not being quite right in the heard, it’s an all-too-common issue people just tolerate or medicate to deal with it.
