628: Dr. Eugene Fine Uses Ketogenic Diet In RECHARGE Cancer Trial

ScreenShot2012-10-20at44636PM_zpsb68e8c67

Clinical professor of radiology/nuclear medicine and ketogenic diet/cancer researcher Dr. Eugene Fine is our guest today in Episode 628 of The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!

After having an engaging conversation last Thursday night with Dr. Colin Champ in Episode 31 of the “Ask The Low-Carb Experts” podcast on the topic “Ketogenic Diets And Cancer”, Jimmy is excited to bring to you one of the researchers who has been examining the connection between an Atkins-styled low-carb ketogenic diet with advanced stage cancer patients to see what impact nutrition can make on cancer tumors. His name is Dr. Eugene Fine from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and he recently published his momentous pilot study of 10 cancer patients in the October 2012 issue of the scientific journal Nutrition.

While it was a very small study, Dr. Fine is hopeful that the preliminary results he has seen will spur on further research in a much larger population of cancer patients who desperately need an alternative and/or supplemental therapy to chemotherapy. Listen in as Jimmy and Dr. Fine discuss how he came across the ketogenic diet, why he believes ketones work to slow down or even reverse the growth of cancer, what results he saw in his 10 cancer patients and where he sees the future of ketogenic diet cancer research. If you, a friend or family member are dealing with a cancer diagnosis, then this episode is a MUST-LISTEN!

577: Benjamin Rubenstein Gets Cancer Twice By The Age Of 19–And Survives!

PlayPlay

Cancer survivor and inspirational blogger Benjamin Rubenstein joins us today as our guest on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!

Most of us probably thought of ourselves as invincible as we were growing up believing that we could achieve virtually anything we put our minds to doing. It’s the dream life of being a kid and this idealistic state soon wears off as the stark realities of adulthood bring a little sanity to our lives. But what happens when a teenager is first diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a very rare form of cancer with a high mortality rate, at the age of 16 and then another cancer diagnosis at 19? For Benjamin Rubenstein, he doesn’t have to wonder because he lived through it and is now living life to the fullest as a robust survivor of cancer–TWICE! He wrote a brutally honest and at times humorous book called TWICE: How I Became a Cancer-Slaying Super Man Before I Turned 21 about the way he psyched his way into believing he was a superhero as a mental exercise for dealing with this terrible disease. This is one of the most extraordinary stories of health triumph you’ve ever heard and we’re happy to be sharing it with you in today’s podcast.

513: Charles & Julie Mayfield Present ‘Paleo Comfort Foods’ And Raw Primal Cancer Survivor Dan Hegerich

We welcome Paleo Comfort Foods cookbook authors Charles and Julie Mayfield and “The Blue Collar Healer” Dan Hegerich to today’s fantastic episode of The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!

First up we hear from Charles and Julie sharing their love for cooking up delicious, Southern-styled “comfort” foods that adhere to the principles of Paleo/low-carb living. While most of the typical meals served in the United States South tend to be virtual carb-fests, this Paleo power couple proves it doesn’t have to be that way with their brand new book Paleo Comfort Foods: Homestyle Cooking in a Gluten-Free Kitchen. Jimmy had a fun conversation with these two fellow Southerners!

Then in the second interview, we hear from cancer survivor Dan Hegerich. Diagnosed with the terminal form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 1994, he’s been on a personal quest to find natural solutions to heal his body and now shares those as “The Blue Collar Healer” at his “Absolute Health And Healing” web site. If you feel like all of your efforts to live a healthier lifestyle are in vain, then you need to be inspired by Dan’s story today.

20

577: Benjamin Rubenstein Gets Cancer Twice By The Age Of 19–And Survives!

20

20
