Dr. William Davis

Jimmy’s exclusive Cholesterol Clarity interview with cardiologist and New York Times bestselling author Dr. William Davis is what you’ll hear today in Episode 718 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.”

We’ve come to the end of the second of three weeks of podcasts highlighting the raw audio interview footage from Jimmy’s conversations with 29 of the top cholesterol experts in the world for his NOW-RELEASED book Cholesterol Clarity: What The HDL Is Wrong With My Numbers? Now that the book is out there, people may start searching online looking further into these experts Jimmy featured in his book as well as seeking to educate themselves more about this subject of cholesterol.

Today’s expert interview guest is one of the most recognized health experts in the world thanks to the immense popularity of his Wheat Belly books. He’s Dr. William Davis (listen to Jimmy’s many previous interviews with him in Episode 679, Episode 528 and Episode 495 as well as this video lecture from the 2012 Low-Carb Cruise) and little did he know a few years back just how much his anti-wheat message would resonate with people. Sugar is the true cause of most of our chronic illnesses today: hearty disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and yes, even cancer. Cut the sugar, cut the carbs, and you’ve cut a vast majority of the health problems that plague our country, driving up health insurance costs to ever-higher levels.

It’s much cheaper NOT to buy or eat something than it is to follow the path of convenience–whether it be food or medicine. Too many of us simply choose to rely on the fallback of “medicine” to save their health, and that’s why we now have the monstrosity known as Obamacare to contend with.

In the words of Nancy Regan: “Just say no.” Or at least “no thank you.”

I’m listening to the podcast now, and something you should know about fish oil: high doses will cause your blood sugar to climb–this is straight out of the PDR. If anyone’s diabetic, pre-diabetic, or trying to avoid becoming that way, limit the dose to no more than 4 grams/day for adults. All sources of Omega-3 will cause you blood sugar to climb, so be careful with it and test, test, test!

Fish oil also thins the blood–if you have a clotting problem or hemophilia, this could be hazardous for you. This is also straight out of the PDR.

I have arthritis, and I was wondering if I was taking enough fish oil to combat the rheumatism. I looked it up, and it turns out I was taking too much!
