237: Dr. Michael Ozner Promotes A High-Carb Mediterranean Diet For Heart Health

Hello and welcome back to The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!

In today’s episode, Jimmy interviews Dr. Michael Ozner, cardiologist and author of The Great American Heart Hoax. Being a fan of the Mediterranean diet and the work of Ancel Keyes, Dr. Ozner is obviously NOT a proponent of low-carb plans, but has many interesting areas of agreement with Jimmy–as well as some quite strong disagreements. Dr. Ozner is not the usual guest Jimmy has on his show, but we are confident you’ll find this conversation fascinating.

Some of the areas of contention in this fascinating conversation include the effect of large LDL cholesterol particles on health, the necessity of large quantities of non-refined carbohydrates, and whether low-carb is a “fad diet”. To quote the venerable Inigo Montoya from “The Princess Bride” movie, “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.” ENJOY this sometimes contentious, but ever-entertaining podcast!
