Hello and welcome back to a special week-long edition of The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore! After a highly successful Bloggeranza Week in April 2010 featuring some of the top bloggers in the world of diet, health, and low-carb living, it’s back and better than ever with five more of your favorite bloggers sharing about the great work they are doing spreading the message of living a healthy lifestyle.

Today’s interviewee, Holly Hickman, talks about restaurants that serve whole foods and “clean meats” in line with the general philosophy of the Weston A. Price Foundation and Michael Pollan, among others. She has a list of such restaurants in her ebook and newsletter, Healthy Eats Here! Don’t miss this beefy interview!

Hi Jimmy and Holly, great podcast! many thanks!
As a 52 year old man with Type 2 Diabetes and 22 months of livin’ the healthy low-Carb/high-Fat lifestyle — I find it depressing sometimes just how much of an uphill struggle it can be when dealing with others… stuck in the rut of the “established low-Fat/high-carb diet”.
Just to say how wonderful it is to hear like-minded and apparently sane, individuals like yourselves who are thriving by eating real whole food!
    Keep up the great work!
    Cheers
    Frank

That was my favourite interview, thanks. Go Holly Hickman!

I’d like to take both of you (and my beautiful wife) to Fleur’s in Moeraki (South Island New Zealand). She did win the NZ restaurant of the year a while back, but she serves locally grown seasonal vegies, grass fed beef and fish from boats that moor (literally) at her back door a few hours prevously! I didn’t give it a thought that a bacon wrapped fish of the day with a real portion of vegies (Fleur is not afraid of food) would be low carb, just the tasty and healthy and good for the rest of the Earth.

We supply seasonal herbs to a few restaurants in our town and a chef came out to the farm yesterday with a box of frozen free range organic chicken for us. During our chat, he said he has dropped the tuna (a beautiful steak) from the menu even though it was the best seller. He now has a fish of the day (fresh, of course) which is a little harder all round for him but more sustainable. “The End of the Line” movie had quite an impact on him.

    Some people get it.

Basically it boils down to knowing our food. The one thing that makes me adhere to my diet is the incredible knowledge AND incredible people I have “met” on my journey. I am becoming increasingly interested in real whole foods. I have been eating more grassfed/free range meat and I really enjoy it. I have been trying raw dairy and it is wonderful. I am far from wealthy but I can afford better health and wellness. There is a community garden nearby and I am interested in making my mark in it. Jimmy, you;re wearing me out. Great interview Jimmy.

Dr. Robert Lustig is great! Fantastic job getting him on Jimmy. I have watched this man a number of times before and was never disappointed. Who knows the good doctor may need our low carb help in the future. He couldn’t come to a better place.
