576: Nell Stephenson Gives The Paleo Diet A Modern-Day Makeover

Paleo nutritional health expert Nell Stephenson is back again as our guest today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!

We first introduced you to the work Nell is doing in the Paleo community in September 2010 and since that time she’s been busy working on spreading the message to a much wider audience. After collaborating with Professor Loren Cordain and Lorrie Cordain on The Paleo Diet Cookbook in 2011, she’s back in 2012 with a fabulous new book of her own entitled Paleoista: Gain Energy, Get Lean, and Feel Fabulous With the Diet You Were Born to Eat. Nell says that many people, women especially, can be turned off by the whole “caveman” aspect of the Paleo diet. While she says that approach is perfectly fine as a way to attract people to the lifestyle, she has a different take on Paleo that is more suited to modern-day living. That’s why she created this new term Paleoista to mash together Paleo and fashionista in a different twist on eating this way. This PhD in Women’s Studies has a genuine heart for reaching that busy woman who thinks she doesn’t have time in her schedule for eating right and exercising. She’s really quite the character as you can see first-hand at her wildly-popular women’s fitness and health web site Stumptuous.com. Several years ago, Jimmy received an e-mail from Nancy Kennedy asking him about his Atkins diet weight loss success story and explained that she was writing a book about how people have lost weight. She found his “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog and thought he’d be the perfect example of what she was wanting to include in this book she wanted to write called How We Did it: Weight Loss Choices That Will Work For You. Since Jimmy’s philosophy is all about people finding what works for them to attain the best health possible, he was excited to be a part of the project. Nancy conducted an hour-long interview with Jimmy asking about all aspects of the process of being morbidly obese to all the miraculous changes that took place for him physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. While the project had to be shelved for a little while, the book is NOW AVAILABLE and we’re happy to share more about this inspiring book of success stories with you today!
