Returning podcast interview guest Dr. Briffa has a brand new book entitled Escape The Diet Trap: Lose Weight For Good Without Calorie-Counting, Extensive Exercise or Hunger that continues to spread the message that weight loss isn’t about cutting your calories, exercising until you pass out and suffering through bouts of starvation. Instead, by embracing a healthy high-fat, low-carb nutritional lifestyle change, you can be freed from the bondage of the typical “diet” trends that are out there and live a life that is enjoyable and healthy at the same time. Dr. Briffa is the first to tell you that “this is not a diet book” and you’ll quickly find out why during Jimmy’s interview with him today!
PLUS: Support our new sponsor Adam Kosloff’s Beyond Caloriegate e-book where he delves into the failure of traditional calorie-counting and why it is an inefficient way to lose weight. He explores REAL solutions to the constant struggles to lose weight and get healthy and will give you a whole new perspective on the great diet debate through a concept he calls The Black Box. Don’t miss Jimmy’s March 21, 2012 full-length podcast interview with Adam about this e-book that could very well change the way you look at nutrition forever!
Molecular biologist and Paleo nutrition blogger Lucas Tafur is our guest today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
There are a lot of great people in the low-carb and Paleo blogosphere doing outstanding work spreading outstanding messages of how to be optimally healthy through nutritional and lifestyle changes. One of those people is Lucas Tafur from the “Immunometabolism” blog. He combines his education and experience in nutrition with a thorough understanding of molecular biology to educate his readers about why chronic diseases exist and what to do about them. The bacteria in the gut in a huge part of this discussion and Jimmy explores this subject with Lucas in today’s interview.

We like to stay on top of what’s happening in the low-carb community and bring to you breaking news when it happens. And today we begin the podcast with a shocking turn of events that took place on Friday, January 27, 2011 when a group of dietitians began investigating Steve Cooksey’s low-carb diabetes blog called Diabetes Warrior because they claim he is giving nutritional counseling services to his readers without a license. As a formerly obese man who was taking insulin and medications to help control his diabetes, Steve no longer has to do that since finding healthy high-fat, low-carb living. This apparently has not sat well with these RDs in North Carolina who would like nothing more than to silence his First Amendment rights to free speech. This could be a HUGE opportunity to spread the low-carb message if this story gets some major media attention and we’ll be following it closely as it unfolds. Here’s a YouTube video of my 9-minute conversation with Steve Cooksey which airs in today’s episode:
Next up we hear from someone who addresses an issue I hear about quite a bit: “How can you eat a low-carb/Paleo/primal lifestyle on a budget?” Well, never fear because Carolyn Rush is here offering up a fabulous new e-book for all of you penny pinchers out there with her brand new resource called Primal Tightwad. Endorsed by former podcast guest Nora Gedgaudas who wrote Primal Body, Primal Mind, this is sure to help so many people who struggle to find a balance between consuming nourishing foods that keep them healthy without causing major damage to their pocketbooks! Carolyn wrote this book on the prodding of Nora although she thought everyone knew about this stuff. Obviously not–and now we have a great way to eat well and still have change left over.

Cardiologist and low-carb weight loss instructor Dr. Lowell Gerber is our guest today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
Just a few short years ago, Dr. Lowell Gerber was still mired in conventional wisdom regarding the role nutrition plays in health, especially heart health. But something kept bothering him about a treatment that seemed too heavily focused on prescribing more and more drug therapies like statins and less interested in getting to the root causes of the issue to begin with. That’s when he came across the work of a fellow physician from Lawrence, Kansas named Dr. Mary Vernon and her Innovative Metabolic Solutions program teaching medical professionals about the basics of using carbohydrate-restriction therapeutically with patients to help them with obesity, diabetes and many other chronic diseases. Dr. Gerber has been a sponge soaking in all of this information and has rekindled his passion and love for making patients healthier than ever before. Jimmy discusses all of the changes that have happened since Dr. Gerber found livin’ la vida low-carb in past few years and what his big plans are to continue educating others about this healthy nutritional approach!

Natural health enthusiast and Paleo blogger David Csonka from “Naturally Engineered” is our guest today on The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
David Csonka says he is committed to “unlocking human potential, the natural way” as he puts it on his popular blog about barefoot running, fitness, lifestyle, nutrition and physiology called “Naturally Engineered.” He is a big believer in the human body’s extraordinary resilience and adaptability to virtually anything we challenge it to do. From freaky science project junk foods that dominate American food culture to the backwards obsession of our society to ignore the freedom of being barefoot vs. wearing shoes for athletics, you’ll find yourself nodding in agreement with a lot of what you hear today during Jimmy’s interview with David Csonka!
