Thank you so much, Jimmy, for having this doctor on your show…I am all too familiar with PCOS and what it can do to a person both mentally and physically. My OB/GYN never addresses the fact that I should be on a low carb diet. I just do it because I am a nurse and know that I NEED to. I am glad there are doctors out there who do use low carb for their patients. I am all about preaching the goodness of low carb to anyone I come in contact with that has PCOS…I wish more practitioners would do the same!
THANKS for listening, Julie! Dr. Boter is certainly treading new ground in her field and hopefully more OB/GYNs will follow her suit.
I had suspected I had PCOS or at least pre-PCOS and when I told my obgyn I was using low-carb to try to control or reverse the symptoms (mainly acne and irregular periods) she gave me this blank deer-in-headlights stare and just kept repeating to me over and over how I should take birth control (Yaz). I explained to her I had taken it in the past and experience unpleasant side effects like weight gain and horrible mood swings, and when I came off the pill my PCOS symptoms were worse than ever before. Low-carb is only thing that gets to the root of the problem, insulin resistance. It’s very refreshing to see a doctor that is up on her current research!
Can you please update lowcarbdoctors.blogspot.com with the Oregon doctor you mentioned in this episode? Thank you!
