Welcome to “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!”
Well, to say that the past two weeks have been a little interesting for us here would certainly be an understatement! Our host Jimmy’s five-part conversation with Kimmer of the now-infamous Kimkins diet has been one of the most popular podcast topics we’ve ever covered here.
Quite literally, people on all sides of this issue have seen their arguments validated by what they have or have not heard from Kimmer so far in the interview. And this debate has spilled over heavily into the comments section of each of the last two shows.
Because of that, Jimmy has decided that we should accelerate the pace a bit and run the three remaining segments in Episode 72 today. In other words, we’re gonna get to the REALLY juicy parts now.

OK…. This was very revealing, and I too suffer from a form of pressure induced anxiety, agoraphobia, very similar to Kimmer/Heidi…
Years ago I turned down a recording contract with a major record company because of this condition.
People I knew thought I was CRAZY… but I just couls not withstand the pressure of what was to come.
I still have bouts of this many years later.. I totally understand when Kimmer said she would rather die than to sit for a face to face interview… Doing that pressured interview would actually make you feel like you are gonna die!
Who knows why this condition exists, I hate that I am this way… but I am and I have been for over 30 years!
I have missed a few very good opportunities because of it… but it is OK .. I do things my way and that works for me.
I see she is doing exactly that!
People need to get over what they want from her, and respect her privacy.

Very glad its over, though her answers were evasive at best and manipulative. If she is going to sell a “product” based on her success, she ought to first prove that she had that success. It’s very easy to create an online identity and then sell anything you can imagine. She even admits to using a myriad of “pen names” and refuses to reveal her real name. Bad form, really. Would you trust someone who won’t show themselves or give their real name yet send them money over the internet? Great! Send me some.
Those of you who are “completely satisfied” by this sham of an interview, and fully accept her agoraphobia cover up and other lies — I’ve got a bridge to sell you. It’s really cheap. Honest.

You can’t say you lost 200 lbs in 11 months following your plan and than not offer proof. Whoever this person is, she is hiding something behind all of these lies. I feel sorry for the people that are paying good hard earning money to a scam artist.
She has offered proof, she’s said that it’s her in the red dress. This may blow your mind, but many of us believe her.
Thank you Jimmy. She is right, no matter what there will always be doubters. That is just life. I think it is great that she is able to not let any of that get to her. That takes a person confident in who they are and what they are doing. Thank you Kimmer.

Discussing this on a web page is far from slander or libel or defamation of character. Besides, if she or anyone tried to sue any of “us” for these postings, well, she’d have to SHOW UP in court huh??
But… if she stresses over parent teacher conferences so badly, I’m sure she couldn’t handle a court hearing… :snicker:
John, its not libel if we are posting our speculations. We can certainly voice that we “think” she might be something. It’s the diference between “I think you are a jerk” and “You ARE a jerk”. Everything here is pure conjecture, for good or for ill. I personally think she is a fraud. Whether or not she really is will tell itself in the future.
The classmates.com photo is the lynchpin in exposing her real identity, and therefore exposing her has a liar.
While the classmates photo is clearly of the same person as the ‘before’ picture she’s used for many years on the LowCarbFriends board– same hair, size, blue sweater, sunglasses, and quite obviously taken the same day–the classmates picture is to be found nowhere else online. So is she trying to claim that someone somehow stole that image and posted a profile that also just happens to match the same name that she’s used multiple times before (Heidi Kimberly [Miller] Diaz), same birthdate (May 10) and same age (49, b. 1958) that she’s given out multiple times before?
The two pictures are undoubtedly of the same person. So, if they are her actual ‘before’ pictures, then she’s clearly lying about not knowing about the classmates picture and posting. If they’re not of her, then she’s been lying about her ‘before’ picture all along. Thus, either way, she’s proven to be a liar.
She’s a complete fraud and there’s simply no getting around it, even if you’ve been duped into paying for her for a very dangerous starvation diet plan.

Super job to you and Kimmer. Doesnt matter who she is to me. I have a nice place with nice people to go every day. I would not sign up at Low Carb Friends. They are way to negative for me, and as I hear for alot of others as well.

Hardly jealous of the money, lol, or anything else. I am upset that someone who can remain utterly anonymous can claim to have lost 200 pounds and start charging people $60 to find out how, when it turns out she ADMITS that she just stole Atkins and Stillman’s work and put a cutesy name on it!
Heck, if thats ok.. we should all do it, what a way to make some quick spending cash.
I would think that stealing another’s work, putting your own name on it and selling it, while making claims that you continually refuse to back up with proof is a bad thing.
But no.. apparently those of us that ask these questions are bad, go figure!

here is what baffles me: let’s say all of the accusations are true, every one. Let’s bottom line it. Morbidly obese people are losing weight quickly and getting away from the dangers of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and the list goes on. It works. There are different plans for different level of weight loss. I am on KE and I eat 1100-1200 calories every day and I am just fine. That is not starvation. I am losing rapidly and my blood pressure and blood sugar are down. I will NOT stay on this diet and I will hop on to the maintenance phase when I hit goal, in 30 lbs. I only paid $60 for this and I also get some AMAZING support in the forums. Seriously, it is amazing. I have never seen a place like this.
I really don’t give a you know what who “kimmer” is because I got what I paid for. You may claim that I can find it in the library or do a little research for it on my own for free but that is my choice to make.
If you feel so passionate about exposing Kimmer go do something about it. Complaining here won’t help.
Second point: still assuming ALL accusations are true, the points you are arguing about the diet itself are using old facts. I am 0n the most restrictive plan and NO ONE has told me to eat 500 or less calories OR told me to take a laxative every day. The product I paid for does not match what you claim it is.

Just a heads-up in the spirit of tranparency. I was asked by Kimmer to remove the before/after images from this post.
There is a chance that the actual people in these images may be offended, and we have no desire to see them suffer.
Kimmer asserts that she never had a release to use those images, so I am taking them down. I’m willing to bet that many of you know where else to find them anyway.

This is so funny. Kimmer didn’t have the rights to use these images, but she used them anyway for her own profit. Then, when they are used in such a way that puts her in a bad light, she right away wants them removed.
Kevin, I’m not at all challenging your decision to remove them. You were asked to so, and it was the right thing to do.
But just where the hell does ‘Kimmer’ get off making such a request in the first place? Obviously just something more she’s so desparately trying to hide.
You know I never liked my looks, even when I was skinny. I may try Kimkins so that I too can get a different FACE, like the photo of Kimkins in the red dress compared to the totally different looking photo she first showed on LCFriends. I mean she should be charging a lot more for her plan if it can change a persons’s facial features as well as their weight. Wow! What a scientific breakthrough!!
Dale, it’s not just getting a different face. And forget about losing 198 in 11 months. Between the blue sweater picture and the red dress, Kimmer lost 198 MONTHS (which is 16.5 years)!!!
Kimmer is selling the Fountain of Youth and it’s only $60!!!!

It’s clear the woman has no conscience, nor cares to be ethical in her business practices. How truly sad this whole thing is; she sucks in vulnerable people, desperate to lose weight, and then promotes disordered eating as the means. Shame on you “Kimmer” and your ilk.

I listend to the interview last night. If you take “Kimmer” out of the equasion you still have 1000’s of people who are losing weight and getting thinner. You have the moral and spiritual support of many friends who all have one thing in common. You have a place to vent, cry, ask questions from others in the same position. The money paid for your username and password to a place where you finally get the answers and support you need is “priceless”! Kimmer could be as fictional as “Harry Potter”, but if it’s working leave it alone!

As I said before Kimmer, there’s a difference between real ‘negativity’ and a valid difference of opinion. The ‘tone’ of my comments are to encourage free thinking and challenge those who think there’s nothing wrong with your not presenting yourself to the public in a way that would end any speculation about who you are or are not, your claimed weight loss and especially, your claimed maintenance and to challenge those who think that starving themselves on a plan that is between 500 and 1,000 kcal per day is going to allow them to actually maintain (without diet coke fasting and laxative abuse)once they’ve quickly lost all that weight. That’s not negativity, dear…that’s called honest and open debate. Sorry that you can’t deal with that.
And by the looks of the ’sanitation’ that goes on at Kimkins.com (yes, I’m a long-term paid member…you can just refer to me as “The Mole”), you can’t handle valid differences of opinion or honest debate and simply dismiss it all as ‘negativity.’

Jimmy I am proud of you and proud of all you’ve done to help others understand how important it is to find a way to lose weight quickly to get away from the risks to their health fast. I think it is a spoof because in it she referred to the late Robert Atkins “Dr. Fatkins”.
I have never heard Kimmer disparage that man, nor do I think she would. I will be VERY dubious about any further post from an AOL user claiming to be Kimmer.

Kevin – I think you did the right thing pulling a post that might be a spoof. Kimmer has never disparaged Dr. Atkins, so I don’t know why she would suddenly start here, now.
I do think that you should leave remarks that aren’t potentially fake up though, whether they’re negative, mean, positive or encouraging. It’s enlightening to see how deeply this is for those who are keeping up with it, whether they’re being nice or not. Even though I think ad homiem is a waste of time, it’s useful to see how and where it is used in this case and hope you’ll allow comments regardless of how they’re perceived.
There are several historical posts by Kimmer on LowCarbFriends where she repeatedly referred to him as “Dr. Fatkins.” These have recently been copied to recent posts on the “Fascination” thread there if anyone would like to reference them.
Also, Jimmy confirmed that it is Kimmer (to the extent anyone can actually confirm that) who is also commenting at his main blog as well.

At Kimkins Diet Secrets the use of “Dr. Fatkins” is used to lure those reading to join Kimkins instead.

Oh, Kevin, Kimmer has repeatedly referred to Atkins as “Fatkins” and continues to do so through a new website run by one of her members in the UK that cites a pile of “diet lies” and refers to Atkins once again, as Fatkins. She most likely did say that, sad as it is, considering that she simply stole Atkins 72 anyway……………… more food for thought. Talk about carb loading.

I really want to see that post. As so often happens with Kimmer, once backed into a corner, the “nasties” come flying out quite vociferously. I think, in fairness, as many here have shown that she routinely refers to Atkins as Fatkins, that the post be reinstated.
In order to post here under a unique user name, the person has to have an account. I can’t go make a “kimmer’ name, as that is already taken, so how could someone else?
the “Kimmre” person though, no idea who that is.
OK, I have not heard from Kimmer, but looking over the logs, ALL the comments here from “Kimmer/Kimmre” came from the same AOL proxy address. Couple that with the shown historical precedent and it is pretty compelling.
Here is the comment I previously deleted:

I find it odd that she would say that since in the interview she states that the innovation of her diet is that it is a synthesis of Atkins’ and Stillman’s concepts.

The whole point of lowcarbing was to not have to suffer with losing. Not to have to cut all the fat out of your diet, not to have to go under 1000 calories to lose weight, to have eating be pleasureable again and still lose weight doing it. Kimmer’s plan negates all of this and makes eating a boring unenjoyable chore again. Give me Dr. “Fatkins” any day of the week. My skin is beautiful, my hair is glossy and is growing like crazy. And yes if you want to see a pic, go to Lowcarbscoop.com and look up Shandril105. my pic is my Avi. and you’ll see the proof. I eat lots and lots of fat and am still losing weight. Not quickly but any stretch of the imagination, but you know what? This a learning experience moreso than it is a weight loss experience.
If you have lots of weight to lose and you want to do it quickly, fine, do it, but prepared for the consequences. And don’t even get me started about those whose do it for vanity pounds.
How many of you can lift weights effectively on your plan hmmm? Play sports? Run? Or do you care about the difference between looking like a balloon with the air let out and supple and strong?
That’s for you to decide I guess, but I’ll take strong and supple over “skinny fat” any day of the week.

Hmm, and to think I lost 53 lbs and am still losing eating greasy bacon and butter laden steaks. Not mention real cream in my coffee. AND I regularly eat over 1700 calories per day. Some girls have all the luck eh?

Anyone, regardless of their ISP only has to open AOL and use the browser within it to be tagged as AOL-proxy in their comments. If she’s doing that she’s pretty smart about computers too (she says she’s not, but I wouldn’t be surprised anymore given her lies and evasive answers). I just thought I’d post this because with an open commentary like this, there are ways to make it look like you are not who you say you are, and ways to make someone think you’re spoofing when you’re really not!

I am on Atkins (72 induction) and have lost 40 pounds in 6 weeks. That’s just as good as your starving paid members and I just had the most amazing steak last night, lol.
You yourself took Dr. Atkins’ diet and used it as your own, why turn around and insult the man that made your Kimpire possible, thus alienating all of Atkins’ fans in the process?

I don’t think she gives a rats pitooty about Jimmy Moore. It’s all about her and making herself money. If Jimmy crashes and burns, and loses Atkins Nutritionals, it’s no skin of her nose. If he stops making her money, then she would be signing a different tune, likely to be telling him too to just do his Atkins. She never changes and never will IMO. She likes him only because he makes her money and sings her praises and makes her, oh how did he put it on the kimkins forums? oh yes, “makes her shine” in the interview. I agree. The fact that she has told people in the past not to alter her plans, and if they do, then they should just go eat their greasy cheeseburgers and call it Atkins / Fatkins instead – yet it’s quite already for Jimmy Moore to eat Chocoperfection bars and LC breads on K/E – why? Well, he’s generating tons of traffic to her site.
I LOVE Jimmy Moore, but I hate seeing him caught now between a rock and a hard place and losing all the credibility he has worked so hard to build over the years, simply because he was hoodwinked and seduced by The Kimpire.

HI, I’m a new face here, but I’ve been reading a whole lot of the posts, and one aspect stands out a mile for me.
I used to visit AOL chatrooms a lot, and there were quite a few which were run by self-styled experts in their chosen subjects. These guys tended to have a close-knit clique around them who looked up to them, and would defend them to the (textual) death. Any passer-by who disagreed with them would find themselves the target of vitriolic attacks, and no amount of logic or calm argument would deflect them from championing their hero or heroine.
So, it seems to me that Kimmer is simply another version of that self-proclaiming expert, a person who has a smattering of knowledge, but an ego that boosts her up to make her seem almost omniscient.
They all self-destruct eventually. Like a house with no foundations, they sink lower and lower until finally vanishing, and Kimkins will be forgotten in a year or so.
Oh, a final thought – which group in any society like to keep their real names and pictures secret?

Like others here, I think this woman is playing you and making money on you. Just walk away. Wow. I’ve been contemplating trying Kimkins since 2 friends of mine on Myspace started it. Amy’s lost a bunch of weight on it, and it was admittedly pretty motivational. I knew Amy from another board (not diet related) and it was really exciting seeing her loss, plus the Eating Low videos she’s done.
But….
After reading here? Forget it. You couldn’t pay me to do this to my body. Stillman’s/Atkins/South Beach makes a helluva lot more sense. I’m not in a huge hurry to take off these pesky 40 lbs…as in, I refuse to jeopardize my health further and give my hard earned cash to a fraud in the process.

You are telling me! Exercise is DA BOMB! I am strong, I can hoist my 7 year around with even trying, I can do 15 men’s style pushups without breaking a sweat. I don’t look like a balloon with the air let out. And all this at 195 lbs and descending.

I have to admit that I’m disappointed in your decision. It seems to me like this diet and your relationship with Kimkins served you very well and by distancing yourself from it, you are distancing yourself from a blessing in your life…even if it caused chaos in other areas of your life. (What happened to “Kimmer, I just want to meet you so I can hug your neck.”? You sort of screwed her over man. I don’t get how you can suck the dollars and publicity out of this arrangment and then publically renounce her a day later, but that’s between the two of you.)
That being said, I would have never lost weight if I hadn’t found Kimkins, and I wouldn’t have found Kimkins if it hadn’t been from your endorsement. For that I am grateful, and I wish you the best.

He wasn’t doing K/E anyway. His losses came with his own plan. He’s been eating lowcarb products the whole time. None of which are allowed on kimkins or K/E.

i know many of you will read these comments today, so i just want to take the opportunity to encourage you all to seriously take a look at what you’re doing. as jimmy has pointed out, not all the plans are safe and any of them can be taken too far. i’ve heard from many of you now who have left/are leaving the site…many with serious medical concerns and serious repercussions from laxative abuse and going too low in calories. so many of you are people i called my friends when i was there and i am genuinely concerned for your well being. please be smart….please be safe…and please think for yourself . know that there are “other” ways to achieve your goals and even other “communities” you can call home, should you find yourself in need of a different support system. i’ve missed many of you and still care deeply as i did while i was there.

Please all of you…do the research!! I implore you. I am a member and and my discovery of the truth came after what started as a plan to speak my mind in defense of Kimkins on LCF. I started reading the “fascination” thread and at first was disgusted by what I saw as a witch hunt. Admittedly a LOT of the posts are nasty and ill informed. Not to mention scary in their hostility. But if you take the time to read it ALL (It took me the better part of a week) there are some truly intelligent people there and plenty of verifiable evidence that Kimkins is a scam and it’s creator is a liar. A very dangerous person who is selling advice based on a plan she herself didn’t even follow when she supposedly lost all of that weight. You can find a link to her fitday on LCF and it is truly shocking. During the dates of her “weight loss” she ate an average of 1000 calories a day (many days higher) and 80 grams of fat. She ate lots of real mayo and put heavy cream in her coffee. There’s nothing wrong with this…but it’s hardly the advice she now gives on her website. You will see evidence in her fitday of a maintenance plan that includes binging and then either water fasting or “diet coke fasting” …to this day. Does this sound like the type of person who should be giving paid weight loss advice to desperate people who are seeking help and a healthy way of eating? No one is more upset than I. I consider myself to be an intelligent, well informed person and somehow i became almost brainwashed in my desperation to finally win my lifelong battle with fat. The woman who is supposedly agoraphobic (to this day no one has EVER been allowed to meet Kimmer in real life because of this) refers in her fitday to trips to Mexico and hosting dinner parties and BBQ’s for 50 people. I’m not angry with Kimmer. I am angry with myself. No one held a gun to my head. And I’m angry and disgusted that I was one of the ones who welcomed the newbies and encouraged them to “stick to the plan”. I still haven’t decided what I am personally going to do about this. I feel like I need to take some responsibility and tangibly do something. But right now, my head is still reeling.
Once again, before you criticize here…do your research. The evidence is overwhelming and more and more is coming to light. And before you jump to the defense “No matter who Kimmer is, The plan has worked for so many members!” Of course it works…it’s a Duh factor…you’re going to lose weight if you stop eating! I challenge you to read 100 posted fitdays and see how many go over 500 calories. And then look at how many are in the 200 calorie range.
Jimmy I applaud you today. It must have been tremendously difficult for you to do what you did today. But you have helped more people than you could ever know. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for having the guts to do what was right.

Kimmer has taken so many people because she is selling them hope. She is selling them a non-diet. It is a dangerous, dangerous way to eat. Kimmer herself told me she didn’t care that people were eating 300 calories a day as long as they are losing. This is what I think. People started to stall on “her” diet so she paniced and told them to eat less and less to get the losses going. And they did. Then she says that autopsy’s on patients that were fasting had organs 3-5 percent smaller then normal. Wake up people. That means your body is eating its own organs so I suggest you go to the doctor to get them checked and monitored. Kimmer doesn’t outline what her plan is at all on her page so people are buying it blindly. Most exercise programs or diet programs tell you that you will be eating nutritious, and well balanced meals. Kimmer can’t say that since the meals are not balanced. She kicked people out for talking negative. She has withheld their money. That is against the law. If it was a free site you can kick people off if the rules are not followed but you can not do that when they paid money and not have to refund it. I have a lawyer in my family that is going to look into it all and if he can get peoples money back he will petition a court to make her issue monies back to every person that shes kicked out and any person that wants a refund since she will not prove herself by showing herself. Oh. and people sent her the pictures that were posted. With that they relinquish ownership of said pictures so her to say she had to remove them for that reason is stupid. If they didn’t want them posted they would not have sent them to her. duh!

LOL You are right! Maybe that is why she so desparately wanted them deleted. Because she was afraid the person would find out or someone would find the picture posted elsewhere and say hey, this isn’t who she said this person was!
After listening to both sides of this crap, I am sick of it. You are all ridiculous. I for one am not going to be participating in any diet forums. I would rather loose weight by myself (and I guess talk to myself too, with no support) than to listen to this.

L if you don’t want to join a support board then make sure you do it with your doctor. I am sorry. I don’t think I mentioned where I was from. I am just sorry you feel that way. Know that there are many boards out there that might be right for you. Maybe even find just that one person to be able to contact you back and forth so that you can share and keep on track with. I was watching the news last night and they said that people that hang out with overweight people generally will be overweight themselves but if they hang out with someone with a like mind as they and they both commit to becoming a healthier, slimmer individual that they have a better chance at success. I wish you the best of luck with your chosen plan and hope that you can connect with someone to help you through, weather it is from online, or even a good close friend. Take care of you and I will say a prayer for you that you find the peace you are looking for and that you will get to your weightloss goals.

I have just been (indirectly) contacted by Kimmer.
She claims that some of the Kimmer/Kimmre posts are by her and some are not. I have sent her an email with a list of seven messages purporting to be from her and asked her to specify which were hers.
I’ll go back and flag each accordingly. If she has been spoofed, it is important to see what words people are putting in her mouth, so I will flag them rather than remove them.

I’m probably one of the biggest skeptics around regarding the before/after pics.
I not only transitioned from female to male (using hormone therapy), but I also lost 150 lbs and even *my* before/after pics have more continuity than Kimmer’s.

As a former member of the KK site I must say to anyone that is considering this program to stop and think. I have ended up in the hospital this week with intense pelvic pain. This comes from the suggestion to use epsom salt flushes and laxatives. I know I am an adult and made my own choices and I accept that but now I am dealing with this issue. Please be safe people.

Something that I am finding disturbing here is that many of you here have been defending yoursleves all along with the excuse that you are just trying to get to the truth and prevent people from getting hurt. Many of those people that you are supposedly trying to save are coming here to read what’s going on. Of course they are initially going to be angry and defensive of Kimkins. There has been a lot of criticism thrown at their WOE which many consider to have helped them tremendously. I’m sure many are devastated and feel that their world is crashing down around them. Many felt that Kimkins was their last hope. We all know that’s not true and I ‘m praying that most will eventually find the right path.
I want to know how you think your childish taunts and jeers are going to help this situation. There has been far too much crowing and snide laughter here today. I personally don’t find anything funny about what has happened today. A wonderful man of obvious integrity came here with his hat in hand and made a huge and very public apology. It had to have been one of the most difficult things he has ever done. I think the smug happy dance all over this site is inappropriate and discredits those of you who have been claiming only good intentions throughout this “debate”
This childish behaviour only serves to undermine the integrity and sincerity of Jimmy’s statements.
I am personally very relieved that the truth of this ugly matter is coming to light and I’m grateful that the thread was started on LCF even though it did get out of hand at times. There are a lot of sincere and concerned people there that worked very hard to uncover the truth.
If you truly want to do what is right, how about showing some patience and compassion here for the people who are no doubt confused and upset. This “Na Na Na Boo Boo” mentality is not going to win anyone over to the truth. It’s just going to alienate people that you may be able to actually help. Contrary to what you may want to believe, the members of Kimkins are a diverse group of intelligent, incredibly supportive and loving people. Not a bunch of brain dead idiots. It’s probably why I was blind to the truth for so long. It was such a wonderful place to spend my time. I never encountered one second of negativity there. Some of the most brilliant and amazing people I ever met are on that site.
For the record SpecialK is NOT kimmer. I know her well from the Kimkins site and she is a wonderful, strong and loving person who has dedicated a LOT of her time posting and helping people there. She is a very very special person.
If this sounds like an attack against any of you, please know that it’s not. I appreciate the work you have all done and will be forever grateful to you all for helping me to stop from going any further down a highly destructive path. I don’t blame any of you for feeling celebratory….but like Kevin says…let’s keep it classy.

As apposed to all of the “polite” stuff here to day? (wink) All I am saying is try to be a bit compassionate and understanding of how people are feeling at this point. Things are pretty raw right now. If you really want to help don’t alienate the people who need help finding the truth. Try to remember every one has a story. Of course there’s going to be some backlash. That doesn’t make them bad people.
Sadly there are going to be many that are never going to be convinced no matter what the evidence is. Kimmer is literally banking on this. People are that desperate. Although I’ll be shocked if there isn’t a lawsuit soon by the people at Atkins. Especially after the Fatkins comment she made earlier today. I can’t believe that the name Kimkins will be around for long. It’ll be interesting to say the least to see how this plays out.

Triscuit Don’t beat yourself up…a LOT of emotions are running high and you’re right…it has gotten nasty, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. Let’s all try to turn this into something positive. There are now over 30,000 members on that site that need to somehow see and hear the evidence of this deception…of which there is plenty. It’s just all so jumbled up and so all over the place. It took me a week of reading and also doing my own sleuthing. I’m utterly exhausted by it. Time that is being spent high-fiving and sniggering would be much better spent sorting through it all and getting it into a neat and concise bundle somewhere and further work needs to be done to bring this insanity to a halt. It looks as though there are many people around here, LCF and in the rest of the low-carb community with a lot of integrity and good intentions, that are more than qualified for the job. Let’s do it right.

of course, someone knew it was just a matter of time before i would share my own experience of inquiring about the validity of the pics. although, i admit it was silly of me not to understand that it’s to be expected that there would be embellishment and enhancements in advertising…it happens all the time, so of course that makes it “ok.” *rolleyes*
as for kimmer’s recent response in the podcast that some of the original controversial “dared to be questioned” pics were taken down because those people didn’t return signed “model releases”…

I just wanted to comment on the issue that some of the posts by Kimmer/Kimmre “might” not be from her.
Well, first of all, they came from the same AOL proxy. That’s a bit hard to fake.
Secondly, if we go back through the archives, I know (because I have read them) that there are MANY instances where Kimmer herself replied in her own forum threads with posts that match the nasty ones left here ALMOST VERBATIM.
So.. I don’t doubt for a second that those were from her, personally.
Are we seeing a pattern here?

When confronted – NASTY as heck
When cornered – denial that she ever said that
After – back to sweetness and light
I’ve seen this firsthand so many times from her. That in itself should be a red flag to anyone questioning this still.

1 bag Dole slaw mix (cabbage)
1 cup Hellmans mayonnaise
2 tbsp (I always use a little more) cider vinegar
Splenda to taste
Mix all ingredients except cabbage in a bowl with whisk. Once you have it adjusted to your taste, mix it with the cabbage. It’s best if you prepare it a day ahead, and keeps for days.

I understand why people feel vindicated, relieved, and happy that a dangerous diet plan and its founder have been exposed as a fraud. I hate to see people deceived, too, but after watching this all unfold over the past weeks, I mostly feel deep sadness.
We in the Low Carb Community have fought for years against the anti-low carb hysteria to prove we eat a healthy diet. What kind of backlash will this conflict with Kimmer/Kimkins have?
Kimkins just went mainstream with its cover story in Woman’s World. I cringe to imagine the headlines when/if it is discredited:

I think we need to expose her plan as LOW EVERYTHING….it’s not just “low carb” it’s low calorie, low fat, and happens to also be low in carbohydrate. If we stop focusing on her promotional keyword, low carb, we can then work to make sure it’s stated as it is, a very low calorie diet. Nothing more, nothing less. It’s not low carb!
I’m not saying it is wrong to expose Kimkins/Kimmer and save people from ruining their health. I’m just saying it may have negative consequences for us all and that makes me very sad after all the work we have done.
I agree: we need to focus on Kimkins being low everything, not low carb. I’m just concerned the media won’t do the same, since they love to bash low carb. Maybe having the LC community doing the exposing will help; maybe not. The media can spin anything to say what they want it to say.

Thank you for your gracious and reassuring words. It just reassures me that I am in the right place. (After losing 30 pounds in 3 weeks you would have to pry me away with a crowbar anyway…)
I have had a bad taste in my mouth all day, however, and I don’t just mean ketosis breath. However, in the choice between being honorable vs. keeping my current job (with which I suport my family), I would like to think I would choose the honorable path. I can always find another way to feed my family that wouldn’t require selling out to my critics or or risk disenchanting thousands of people who are just trying to lose weight. And I think Jimmy could so the same thing. He doesn’t HAVE to make his living off his blog. Most of us don’t have that luxury. When he started his blog it was for the right reasons, but by taking on sponsors and relying on them for his main source of income, he exposed himself to their influence and the influence of any who could manipulate those sponsors. It is the same corruption of honor that we see so often in politics.
Sure, some are here to lose 20lbs to look better at the beach by next month, but a lot of us like mayself are here as a last ditch effort to save our future lives. I am here to avoid WLS, and after see what I can do with this WOE, I’ll never have the surgery. There is no way anyone will convince me that ANY of the 5 Kimkins options are safer than surgery and the diet that follows surgery. I understand Jimmy leaving if it just wasn’t for him, but I disagree with how he chose to leave and what he said on his blog to win back support from the haters who were threatening his livelihood.
So Jimmy can go do his thing and hopefully continue to feed his family without having to start another career. He will just have to do it without me as a reader or patron of his sponsors. I do think we need to avoid negativity, lest we falter, but I am giving myslef the day off from that. My own results keep me from cheating, irregardless of my mood. Tomorrow, I am done with this and back to positive momentum. No sense stressing about a situation or a decision over which we have no control.

Some of the stuff they did caused him to fight back in anger, this only made it worse… He had a lot to lose by remaining an open supporter of Kimkins.
I am sorry it had to all happen…I thought the Blog was very humble, and beautifully written…. but it breaks my heart it was forced by a merciless group of vulchers.

Ah, I see the ’sanitation’ on the Kimkins.com site has now begun in ernest, just exactly as I predicted. Got to keep the minions ‘focused on the task at hand’ and not distracted by the realities of the truth that is to be had with open and honest debate.
If you can’t silence your critics by calm, intelligent discussion which offers helpful information that answers their questions and provides evidence that your theories are correct – wiping the conversations that are in any way negative is the next step for those desperate to retain control.
If something is truth, there should be no difficulty in answering a question about it or debating claims that it is untrue. Thus removing the need for control over communications within a group.
If someone raises doubts and questions about a claim being made, good sense tells us that whoever made the claim should have the information and proof of that claim ready at hand and be able to deliver it in a clear, concise and non-confrontational way.
People do not grow and heal in an environment that disallows freedom of thought or expression. They conform. They become carbon copies expressing the same ideas over and over.
Stifling people’s ability to think and discuss between themselves is a tactic used quite often throughout history and never with good results.
Trying to “rid the board” of all negativity will not erase the thoughts from people’s minds, only serve to make the taboo that much more intriguing and eventually breeds resentment.
Kimkins members are live, breathing, thinking people and deserve at least to be able to express their thoughts on the forum they paid to use.
Kimmer cannot breed an army of waif-like automatons, quoting the KK mantras like zombies, try as though she might – and obviously is.

All of SpecialK’s posts originate from the same IP address.
A surprising variety of other posters share that same IP address – on both sides of the issue.
This may be somehow because all of those people were from connected via AOL.
BUT, yes, all SpecialK’s posts come from that IP address.

I would like to let Kimkins folks and everyone else out there know that there is definitely an overzealousness to help, but it is not meant out of spite. It’s done out of pure emotion and hopes to be of assitance.
People are the equation in this, and if any feelings have been hurt, please let them know that we exist well with the Kimkins members at LowCarbFriends.com and respect our sisters and brothers.
At LCF, there is open dialogue and caring.

We’re there to support you in the best way we possibly could. Whether we agree with the diet plan or not, here you can interact with people from all plans, and enjoy exchanges of information as we do.
And even when there is disagreement, you see we haven’t overrun the Kimkins threads on that forum. We have respect for other plans, even if we disagree. The differences don’t spill over into the other forums there. We can disagree on an issue in one thread and still laugh it up in the playground, or swap advice in the main forum, or support each other in the challenges section.
Don’t you see? There’s no need to feel this divisiveness. We are all one big, low-carb family.
