[...] Do you really believe it appropriate for a teenager to be told she doesn’t need more calories? I thought the diet didn’t have restrictions? What happened to the “eat when hungry” tenet? That’s what I thought the diet was about. If a member says I’m hungry, especially a growing teen who NEEDS her calcium and other assorted vitamins AND minerals AND fat, why not say “eat–just pick from protein and healthy fats” instead of “I don’t agree that you need more calories?” And who’s to say a vLCD WON’T have potential health problems down the road? The owner can’t–she’s not a doctor. She won’t even post a picture of herself. oh, red dress pic…yeah, right. sure. NOT. Plus she’s said that she doesn’t promote to teens (”K: I also turn teenagers away. (J: Oh really.) Only because — we have teenagers on site, but teenagers as I know first hand, tend to be extreme. If you say do A, they will do A times a hundred. And, with my experience with teenagers, I, I just don’t wanna do, to encourage them“), yet when a teen joins, does she block her and issue a refund like a responsible adult and business owner? No, she does that to those who disagree with her. HUH??? [...]

Yes, I have read the latter.

And, exactly what advice have I been "dispensing" other than to beware of the fraud of vLCD diet advice being dispensed by someone who refuses to verify her own claimed weight loss and maintenance.

More importantly: Where exactly are Kimmer/Heidi Diaz's credentials to be dispensing any medical and/or nutritional advice?

I don't know if anyone has seen this, but between this site and others that are now talking about the controversy and these podcasts, how can anyone still promote this diet and this woman?

Just wanted to post a little reply. I know there are many people out there who dont belive in Kimkins. My only advise is to try it and if it is not for you then dont spend your time researching podcasts and forums just to bash it. is there nothing more constuctive we can do with our lives.
I have been on Kimkins for 7week I am a 25yr old women with diabeties and HAD high blood pressure and cholesteral. My dr would have been againt this diet had I asked him before I started. BUT i didnt. I went in after 5 weeks on this diet and ALL my blood work came back and I am amazingly healthy. I cannot tell you what this diet has done for me in such a short time. I was told I could die of a heart attack soon with my cholosteral levels. I dont have time to sit around and try and fail another dozen diets.
With that said if you are in disbelif of this diet, do human kind a favor and log off.
Why I belive kimmer dosnt tell us her name or want to meet others is this reason right here. Kimmer can be public, and endure comments (negitive) from a huge percentage of disbelivers. She can take her kids to school and worry about if they are picked on because mommy is an icon for a diet that most dont belive in. OR she can be private. go about her life as she did before this diet craze. She is just a mom like many of us, that found out what works and is telling the world because she is treating us and we would treat other. You bet I am going around telling several people about what works. She wants to be normal but make a difference. How can people talk so bad about a person like that.

Anyway I wish everyone well, and my advise is to try it, my health is BEtter then ever and Ive lost 30lbs

Kimmerexia

The passion that the two of you exhibit seems uniformed. Human nutrition is not an exact science. Human beings do not all have identical nutritional needs. Nutritional science, if it can be called that in it's present state, offers only advice based on generalities. That advice may have some merit to an individual as a starting point but in the case of a particular individual that advice can be lethal. Your advice as well as Kimmer's advice will, in some specific situation, be the entirely wrong advice. However, what Kimmer has proposed is not unique. Criticism of it are based on theories but not on empirical evidence. What empiracle evidence there is suggests that a ketogenic diet is quite healthy for many people. There is space here for only one example. The entire company of the Lewis & Clark expedition subsisted on a diet of lean meat for most of their two year journey without any apparent negative effects.

Kimmerexia - you need to get a life. If you don't like Kimkins and you want to remain overweight fine or if you have already reached your goal by some other method fine. Don't ruin it for others. And if Jimmy really were editing things the first thing he would edit is your idiotic comments.

Just wanted to pop back and say it looks like one "battle" in this "war" is over and Jimmy is the victor. The other site has removed it's links and seems to have stopped the vendetta against you personally. However, I am disappointed to see that my comment from last night has been removed. I thought it was a neutral comment. I simply made an observation and definately supported Kimkins.

Pat, I'm not bashing. Can't speak for Kimmerexia. I'm having some serious questions and doubts about the safety of this plan and the dangerous advice that "Kimmer" has given out, both on the websites and privately.

Never once have I mentioned anything "personal" about the woman - not bashing anything.

Kimmerexia and Morgan - don't you have anything better to do than bash?? As in any diet plan, a person must show responsible behaviour in their own choices. I, for one, do not need a guard dog. Go away!

In response to this never ending question (from your podcast): (the email basically was somebody saying their weight loss has stalled, they’d been eating about four bites of chicken and a cup of coffee and what should they do, and supposedly you answered back, “Well you need to cut your calories even more,”. Here is what is in the Ask Kimmer thread at LCF, she NEVER said to cut back on calories:
OP-Kimmer, I don't know what's happening. I haven't cheated at all and I didn't loose a pound today.?? I ate maybe 4 bites of lean chicken,my coffee and two diet cokes. What causes a stall? Is this normal or is my coffee finally catching up with me? Or could it be bathroon issues? HELP ME KIMMER???

K-Wannalose, what's in your coffee? What about constipation? What kind of chicken? What have you eaten the last 3 days?

OP-Coffee:SF carmel 2g carbs,30 cals,2.5 g fat, per tbsp (I use 2 carefully measured) sweet n low (1 packet) 1 cup day. 2 days ago I had 2 cups.
Friday Hardly nothing to eat,c 2 cups coffee,2 diet drinks, water
saturday,1/4 chicken breast cooked in George Forman w/ salt, coffee my way,Snow cone w/ SF syrup2oz (did not measure) 5 cals,o carbs o fat,2 diet cokes,
Today Roast beef broiled in oven about the size if a tennis ball 1 diet coke,1 cup of coffee.Constipation? I took laxatives three days ago. Thanks!!!

K-When did the water fast end? You are losing at this very minute! Keep in mind that meat, chicken & fish have zero fiber so there's nothing to "push them through".
Have you considered taking a mild laxative each night you're doing "protein only"? Or, hate to even suggest it, make up a batch of the horrible Epsom salt solution and take a couple tablespoons each night?
How much have you been losing each day before? You're still losing that right now. When things "move", you'll have a whoosh that will bring you up to date.
OP-Thanks Again SO MUCH!!! I was STRESSING!!! Kimmer, You are SO Special!! Kimmer!!! Do you see me today???? 177!!!!! 2 pounds girl!!! Woo Hoo!! Thank You so much for last night!!!
Uniquelymade,I'm hypothyroid on 75 mcg of levothroid. This is working AWESOMELY for me. I probably eat maybe 10 carbs a day if even that! Good Luck!!

So, keep the facts staight people!

Also, Josh.. she recommended cocktails of diet coke + epsom salts.. not simply "have a diet coke if you're thirsty". Please read the comment in its proper context before trying to spin it.

Josh.. all the information anyone needs to see the contradictions between what Kimmer has said in this interview and what she has said in the past is all on the LCF forum. Go read it, not my job to do your leg work. Jimmy knows what I'm talking about and that is who my comment was directed at.

I wouldn't suggest anyone take a laxative for any reason, as I'm not a healthcare professional (yet). I most certainly would NEVER tell that person to take it DAILY while on a particular diet plan, especially when that is contrary to the label directions of the product(s) in question.

I don't care who kimmer is or if her pics are real or fake. I do care however that she is giving out dangerous quasi-medical advice, and has extensively in the past, and is now trying to pretend that was never done.

I concur, Kevin. Debate is a healthy way to have a discussion of the issues. Personal attacks are probably not the best way to accomplish it. THANKS for the comments everyone! Keep 'em coming!

What is Defamation of Character:
A false statement that injures someone's reputation and exposes him to public contempt, hatred, ridicule, or condemnation. If the false statement is published in print or through broadcast media, such as radio or TV, it is called libel. If it is only spoken, it is called slander.

Now this has gone way beyond a few choice comments and actions. I would advice Mr. Moore see an attorney to put a stop to this.

Hi,

I am the show's producer (most regulars here know me). For the record, I do have access to editing and removing comments.

I have not done so, as I don't personally know too much about Kimkins, and I'm interested to see everyone's thoughts both pro and con I don't have any intention to.

Although please don't take that as an invitation to be either uncivil or to post anything legally actionable!

I enjoy seeing a vigorous discussion, so by all means feel free to post your own perspectives, pro or con.

Nolo.com:

What the definition of Slander?
A type of defamation. Slander is an untruthful oral (spoken) statement about a person that harms the person's reputation or standing in the community. Because slander is a tort (a civil wrong), the injured person can bring a lawsuit against the person who made the false statement. If the statement is made via broadcast media -- for example, over the radio or on TV -- it is considered libel, rather than slander, because the statement has the potential to reach a very wide audience.

kimmerexia, it is truly sad to see what lengths you will go to to repeat a very weak and pointless observation. So what. No one cares but you and a small handful of LOUD immature people. What is wrong with you guys. You seem to have an entitlement issue. If you don't like it, go away. And to everyone else who keeps claiming that certain comments are BOLD (not bald as previously stated) Faced lies, please post the facts to back up that statement. Lazy points are worthless. Support your argument with a link please.

And to Morgan, tell me if you knew someone was constipated you wouldn't recommend a laxative. And thanks for pointing out that I am not supposed to recommend a diet coke to someone who is thirsty either.
It is easy to see which side is more mature in this argument.
And please everyone who is calling Jimmy edit happy, post proof or quit doing it. No one believes you. It is my understanding he did it as a joke once and ALSO posted the UN EDITED version. So what. And this blog site does not allow for editing comments to my understanding (at least I can't on my blog).

Please grow up.

Kimmerexia,

Obviously Jimmy had to remove the Atkins ad, but the fact that he is leaving all your childish comments about it proves that he isn't trying to hide the fact.

You seem like you'd love to find a conspiracy or something because the ad went away, but I don't see it.

I don't believe kimmer is eating 1400-1700 calories per day. Not too long ago there was a public fit-day for kimmer and it was around 1000 calories per day.

With thanks to PJ (RightNOW on LCF), this is the section that got edited out of the podcast today, right after the introduction where it says: "Thanks so much for coming back today for part two of my interview with Kimmer from the Kimkims diet."

Here's the part that got cut:

"We'll get into that in just a moment.

First I wanted to tell you about the Atkins products from Atkins Nutritionals. There are bars and shakes, candy, books, all kinds of things available from Atkins, and, with the bars actually you can have the Atkins Advantage bars, the original bars provide all the nutrition your body needs to keep you moving when you're on the go. There's also the Atkins Advantage Caramel Bars, I especially like these, these are new and if you have not tried them they are superior to most of the ??? even the candy bars that are out there, and the creamy caramel makes it taste that much better. There's also the Atkins Advantage granola bars which has a superior mix of crunchy goodness of granola for nutrition on the go as well, and finally for your breakfast needs there's the Atkins Advantage Morning Start Bars which has lots of protein and fiber as well as a good source of calcium to get you through your day. So again that is Atkins Advantage products and if you will visit the show notes section at The Living Low Carb Show dot com, click on the banner ad for Atkins Nutritionals."

I see the residual Atkins "sponsorship" text links have been finally deleted. Good job at cleaning up your latest mess!

But the length of the podcast is still incorrect. Since editing out the Atkins Nutritionals commercial, it's no longer 17:11, it's only 15:56.

Oh, you also forgot to edit the stated length of the podcast since deleting the 2 minute commercial. It's no longer 17:11, but more like just 15 minutes total.

Okay, so now within the past hour (8:30 PM EDT), the podcast has been EDITED TO EXCLUDE the 2 minute Atkins Nutritionals audio commercial in this podcast that told people to click on the Atkins ad, which as I pointed out much earlier today, no longer exists. I did download the original podcast with the commercial intact, pre-edit. We all know how "edit-happy" Jimmy's gotten these days.

Obviously the folks over at Atkins Nutritionals were not amused at the idea of actually sponsoring the low-fat, starvation Kimkins scam!

However, the following is still in the text copy that leads one to the podcast: "Also in today’s show, Jimmy gives thanks to our sponsor Atkins Nutritionals, purveyors of delicious low-carb bars and more. Try them TODAY!"

Another thought, after hearing more of the interview.. she says she won't recommend a supplement or vitamins out of ethics, but she'll recommend laxatives, MoM and epsom salt + diet coke drinks? What!

I've had about enough of this farce now.

Wow, I'm amazed. Not in a good way, mind you. First, she HAS, many times, given advice to people to cut their calories even lower, when they said they were eating 500-600 a day. Has she forgotten that there are forum threads still in existence that contain her replies to that effect?!? Bald-faced lies.

Second, SHE IS NOT A DOCTOR and she is giving out quasi-medical advice. She cannot rightfully say that "you can take a fiber hit for a few months" - without any medical or healthcare training AT ALL.

The more she talks, the worse I feel about the whole situation and you know I've been trying hard to stay on that fence and not leap to one side or the other.

Great Interview Jimmy. Atkin's didn't work for me the first three times I tried it. Too much fat and not strict enough. I know many men who couldn't follow Kimkins because they wouldn't have the discipline and have admitted to me. If this diet isn't for you, then say nothing and move on to something that does work. Kimmer I wish I found you 5 years ago.

Oh, this is so rich! Jimmy's "Kimkins Show" is SPONSORED by Atkins Nutrtionals!!!

I wonder what Atkins Nutritionals thinks about sponsoring an interview with 'Kimmer' who BASTARDIZED the Atkins diet into a low-fat starvation diet??!?!?!
