As a regular feature Thursdays for the past few weeks and in the coming months, we have a fantastic series of interviews our host Jimmy conducted during his visit to an obesity conference in Nashville, TN sponsored by the American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP). You are getting to meet the people who are on the cutting edge of changing the dynamics of obesity in America today.
In Episode 54, Jimmy had the distinct pleasure of interviewing one of the true up-and-coming names in the research community–Duke University low-carb researcher Dr. Eric Westman. You’ll be hearing a lot more out of this young man in the coming years as his studies into the low-carbohydrate dietary approach will keep confirming what the late great Dr. Robert C. Atkins knew all along.
Enjoy hearing from Dr. Westman and please feel free to respond in the comments section.

Jimmy, I’m loving these Thursday podcast interviews. It is fantastic that Dr. Westman is continuing low carb research based on the Atkins plan. p.s. I finished your book; what an inspiration you are! I enjoyed your writing style-I laughed out loud and at times had tears in my eyes. I shall keep it in my low carb library; will recommend it to others. I’m trying your BACON CHEDDAR CHICKEN MELT FOR DINNER ; looking forward to slapping my mom silly!LOL.
Glad you are enjoying the podcasts, Linda, and my book, too! Happy to help you slap your momma silly. Hee hee!

Very good show, Jimmy. I find it very interesting that Duke is famous for its Rice Diet and that studies are also going on there by Dr. Westman examining the benefits of low carb diets. Keep up the good work!

Hi Jimmy,
My husband, Doug and I are privileged to be patients of Dr. Westman in his clinic here in Durham. We’ve both lost 50 pounds in the last 5 months. Dr. Westman and his staff have all been great helping us on this journey. We both have more to lose and have finally found a way of eating that we can live with forever. If you do make it to Durham to visit, let us know when you are coming. We could try to set up a get together, maybe at the local Cracker Barrel.
Thanks for all that you do. You’ve helped us a lot with all the great information that you provide here.
Sara
That is ironic, isn’t it, Kay? The work Dr. Westman is doing is not very popular within his circle of researchers there at Duke, but he like any good scientist is merely seeking the truth about livin’ la vida low-carb.
WOW, that’s so cool, Sara! I’d love to hook up with you when Christine and I make it to Durham. Dr. Westman is not this high-browed, know-it-all doctor who talks over your head. He’s as real as they come and I’m so glad he’s doing what he’s doing.
THANKS for the comments and keep listening!
