Hello and welcome back for a very special episode of “The Livin’ la Vida Low-Carb Show With Jimmy and Christine Moore!”
Jimmy is joined in the studio today with his wife Christine as they talk about an issue that hits close to home for them. For fans of Jimmy’s blog, you know how very open he has been in discussing their infertility issues going through an IVF cycle in December 2007 and they hope to help our listeners who may be trying to conceive by sharing what they have learned on their personal journey.
Today we bring you their interview with Dr. Julie Kahn, a fertility specialist with iProgressiveMed who has a particular interest in diet as it relates to conception and they stay very up-to-date with the latest research into the pro-fertility diet for both men and women.
In addition to being a doctor of modern western medicine, Dr. Kahn also has a degree in traditional Eastern medicine and advocates the use of acupuncture in treating her fertility clients as well. Be sure to listen in as the Moores ask her about that treatment as well as their fascinating discussion of:
- What kinds of meats are best for fertility?
- What kinds of carbs are worst for fertility?
- What is the effect of soy for both men and women while trying to conceive?
- Are supplements required when eating the recommended diet?
- How to avoid harmful chemicals around the house.
and much, much Moore! Thank you for listening and share your comments with us below or by calling (206) 202-6516.

Love the poscast. Lots of good info!!
She was very articulate about this subject which I hope will help lots of people thinking about having a baby. It starts LONG before conception.
Jimmy
You meant if it is white it aint right, correct?
Yep! I misspoke.
Oh well, I was in the moment.
Hey, Jimmy! Great podcast. I can totally relate. And as I’ve mentioned before, Chinese herbs have helped me get my body back in balance. I still don’t know if I’ll ever conceive naturally, but you better believe I’ll do what I can to prepare my body in case that day comes!
I do wonder sometimes about the supplements…and if a good multivitamin is enough or if I need to take extra supplements (like zinc and selenium). What about too much of a good thing?
Interesting point about acupuncture and IVF, too. I’ll remember that if I ever try IVF.
So have you and Christine considered trying IVF again?
THANKS Taiwan gal! No, we won’t be doing another IVF cycle. The first one was $18,000 and we’ll be paying this off over the next five years. We both had issues with her eggs and my sperm. The likelihood of conceiving is not looking good.
Adoption and other options are still on the table, but we’re trying to get our financial and emotional feet back on the ground again.
THANK YOU for asking!
