Interview With The Biggest Loser Bill Germanakos, Part 2 (Episode 106)
Bill Germanakos celebrating with his family after winning “The Biggest Loser” 4

Hello and welcome back to the Internet’s #1 show for low-carb support, news, interviews and so much more — “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show With Jimmy Moore!”

After sharing Part 1 of a two-part interview that began with Monday’s great introduction to Bill Germanakos, the big winner of Season 4 of the hit NBC-TV weight loss reality show The Biggest Loser, listen to Part 2 of Jimmy’s discussion with Bill today! He’s one amazing fella and I think you’ll agree he has a lot to say about the subject of diet and health.

In today’s episode, Bill discusses the role carbohydrate-control played in his weight loss, the enormous importance of resistance training and its optimal ratio compared to cardiovascular exercise, the inherent dangers of drinking soda (and our host Jimmy confesses to Bill how much sugary soda he used to drink!), as well as his potential plans for the future. Fans of “The Biggest Loser” will NOT want to miss the conclusion of this interview with Bill Germanakos!

Please be sure to let us know what you think of the interview by leaving a note in the comments section below.

Thanks, Jimmy, for that Interview. The more i hear these success stories, the more it sinks into my head that I can do it too! I definitely have to re-program my brain…it still doesn’t think “thin” and makes me work overtime to just head in that direction. Thanks for all you do!

Hi Jimmy - Not a comment but a question. I don’t watch TV so am not familiar with the Biggest Loser show. What is the time period over which the contestants have to lose the weight? 3 months? 6 months? 1 year? It certainly is amazing - the transformation of the finalists.

Hi, Jimmy! I’m so glad you asked Bill about his diet…I was wondering what he eats now after I heard the first podcast. Since I have never been able to watch this show, I’m thankful for the interviews you do. Just curious…if you had been given the chance to go on The Biggest Loser when you weighed 400 pounds, would you have done it?

Hey Oscuro, GREAT QUESTION! I believe from the time they begin until the grand finale, the time length is about seven months. I’ve asked several of the other contestants about this in some written blog interviews that are forthcoming at http://www.LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com. Keep reading and start watching that show. IT’S AMAZING!!!

Yeah, Taiwan Gal, I thought the fact that Bill is livin’ la vida low-carb would be interesting fodder for people to hear. Would I have gone on TBL if I had a chance? HECK YEAH and I would have been as competitive as I could be. The year I lost weight was the first year the show began airing when Ryan Benson won by losing about 100 pounds. I would have blown his loss out the water! :D

Too bad the show doesn’t ask them which eating program they lost their weight on. What a promotion Bill would’ve made for low carb living!
I always wondered if they MADE them eat what ‘nutritionists’ recommend. Maybe they each get to choose their own eating style. I think they do have to make their own meals. It sure would be unusual for the trainers to support low carb, huh?!
Can we say ‘converts’?

Jimmy Moore (20:25:56) :

The trainers already do support low-carb, but they’re not allowed to talk about it on the show.

Linda Pickett (17:13:30) :

Why can’t they talk about low carbing on the show? Afraid of losing sponsors? Hey Jimmy, I’m back! My pc needed to be replaced ; so now I can get back into the swing of things! I have missed you and all your low carb wisdom!!!

26 01 2008
Jimmy Moore (17:28:12) :

Welcome back, Linda! Most of the sponsors are indeed low-fatties, so that probably has a lot to do with it.

Kevin Kennedy-Spaien (19:38:37) :

Linda! Welcome back! We missed you!

It stinks losing computer, but, actually having one (after coughing up the bucks) is usually a blast. Hope you enjoy!

The fact that Bill is on low carb will give him the best chance! When you are insulin resistant, working out, no matter how hard, or often, will not do much by itself!
