Bill Germanokos, winner of NBC’s The Biggest Loser Season 4
Hello and welcome to the Internet’s #1 show for low-carb support, news, interviews and just plain old fun
— “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show With Jimmy Moore!”
After last year’s fantastic group of interviews with bariatric physicians, low-carb businessmen, BBQ enthusiasts, and even Mr. Low-Fat Diet guru Dr. Dean Ornish, our host Jimmy now moves on to grilling a bona-fide television star–reality show star, that is! You know, it’s a hard life, but somebody’s got to do it.
We are pleased to present to you in both podcast shows this week an interview that Jimmy conducted with a man who lost 49.1 percent of his body weight right before your very eyes and won $250,000 in the bargain! We’re speaking, of course, about the winner from Season 4 of the hit NBC-TV weight loss reality show The Biggest Loser: Bill Germanakos. Listen in to get the skinny on this incredible man’s amazing feat!
Please be sure to let us know what you think of the interview by leaving a note in the comments section below.

Jimmy, This episode has a lot to do with our wanting to lose weight. The season finale was awesome; in that it’s hard to visualize big weight loss. Knowing and seeing that somebody else achieved it makes it more real. It’s still hard for me to even comprehend that I WILL ONE DAY HAVE LOST OVER 150 POUNDS but I get more confident with each day. I’m never hungry on this lifestyle. It’s awesome.
Keep on keeping on. Anxious for my bars. Thanks much
Sharon
You’re gonna get there, Sharon! YOU WILL! Believe it!!!
I really enjoyed listening and I’m looking forward to hearing more. Thanks Jimmy.
THANKS Sue! Bill is an inspirational guy, ain’t he?
I love that show too.
Everytime I think I will not get there, you read stories like this and it gives me a little boost…….
I can’t wait to hear more.
I didn’t watch Season 4 I only got into Biggest Loser during the reruns, but I’m watching 5. Thank you for this interview it helps keep me motivated.
Glad you enjoyed it Wanda and Colleen! I’m working on interviews for my blog with 11 more contestants from Season 4, so stay tuned. You’ll enjoy Thursday’s conclusion to my interview with Bill. He was GREAT!
It was great to hear some of the inside information from Bill. Thanks for doing the interview, Jimmy! I received an order of Livin la vida low carb bars from netrition.com Friday, and they are awesome! Much better than the low carb chocolate I usually have to settle for. Thanks for creating the bar — I’ll definitely be ordering more!
Hey there Jimmy… That was very interesting to listen to.. I can’t wait to hear the rest of it… Funny he speaks so highly of Jillian.. b/c the show does potray her to be so tough and harsh… it’s apparent from the outcome of the show that she’s gotten something to drive individuals that the other 2 don’t.
It was really neat to hear more from the “insider” who was actually there..
Thanks for having him on…
Take care…
Cathleen
THANKS for listening, Scott! I hope to have about 11 blog interviews with various other contestants from Season 4 of “The Biggest Loser” very soon for even more insights about the show. There’s certainly a lot more that goes on behind-the-scenes than people even realize. I’m glad you love my new chocolate bars, too. THANK YOU for giving them a try and it makes me happy to hear you are enjoying them.
My pleasure Cathleen! Bill was so humble and genuine which makes him so much more real than some big persona. He was fun to talk to and apologetic about taking so long to do the interview after he committed to it about a month ago. Classy classy guy!
Jimmy, I never get tired of your shows and videos. They keep me motivated and encouraged that I can continue this way of eating for a lifetime and also shed the over 100 lbs I have left to lose. This interview with Bill makes the show contestants seem so much more real to me. He seems like an incredible man. (Like You.)
Cathy
Awww, thanks Cathy! We’ll keep sharing if you keep listening. Don’t miss Part 2 with Bill on Thursday.
Another great show, Jimmy! I really enjoy listening to interviews from people who have had incredible success in weight loss. Thanks!!
Bill seems to have the right perspective to make this weight loss a long-term thing. THANKS for listening and check out Part 2 on Thursday.
Love these interviews Jimmy. Better than the show in some ways as you get the real inside scoop. Keep em coming. The Biggest Loser should have you do a special where you do one on ones ala Barbara Walters with the contestants.
P.S. Bill comes across as a decent, stand-up guy.
Would you rather keep hearing from the contestants in audio interviews rather than reading them in written format at my blog? I didn’t want to bore people with too many “Biggest Loser” interviews on my podcast show. And you’re right about Bill, he’s a really GREAT guy.
Jimmy, anything you do either verbal or written is fine by me. I get more information from your Biggest Loser blog or audio interviews than I get from the shows. The shows are good but your info is better. Never bored when it comes to successful weight loss stories.
Fair enough, JD! I’ve got about 11 more blog interview set up with other contestants from Season 4 of “The Biggest Loser” and look forward to sharing those with you at my blog. THANKS again for the feedback!
Jimmy,
I’d love to see a transcription of this. A lot of folks can’t listen to it and need to read it…
There’s also the whole ADA compliancy issue
Thanks for the wonderful blog! I’ve lost 70lbs to date and have been reading your blog since day 1.
THANKS Aaron! I don’t have the time to do a transcript of interviews…it would take me at least a half day to a day to write out and edit. Wish I had that luxury. Hopefully you can get a connection that lets you listen. Check out iTunes and download it to your iPod if you have one.
Jimmy,
I usually can get a transcript of your shows but there doesn’t seem to be any for #105. I hate to miss anything! Also I really like the Biggest Loser show and want to hear what the winners have to say. Thanks. Also, who are winning the candy bars? Maybe mine will be in the mail, so they say. Ha! Ha!
Jane
Hey Jane,
As I explained to Aaron in the comment just above yours, I have never done a transcript for the interviews I conduct here at my podcast show. I just don’t have the time to do that, but I’m happy to have the assistance of anyone who would like to start transcribing my interviews. Hopefully you can get a good connection to listen at some point and/or download the shows from iTunes into your iPod.
As for the chocolate winners, I announce them in the podcast and hear back from the winners via e-mail. The non-interview podcasts all have transcripts, so you can READ if you were a winner.
THANK YOU again for writing!
Hi Jimmy,
I found your podcast with Billy G. while I was surfing the internet. I must say that was a great interview that you conducted. I myself have been inspired from what Bill has accomplished to change my own life. I’m 36 and 5′1″ and at winter last year I was a whopping 193 lbs. That 200 number was looking me straight in the eye and I didn’t like it at all. I know it probably doesn’t seem like much weight to you with what you overcame. Congrats and props to you for your achievements as well. Job well done! You look awesome! As of right now though (6-7-08, Bill’s B-day today as well) I am down to 134 lbs. (59 lbs. lost).
Bill and I have been e-mailing back and forth for the last (almost) 4 months now and he has been a total inspiration, mentor and almost like a friend to me. His advice, support and encouragement that he has shared with me is priceless. I seriously could not have done this without him. I even had the awesome opportunity to talk with Bill on the phone a couple of months ago. He is truly one of the nicest, most down to earth gentleman one could acquaint themselves with. Within 30 seconds or so of talking to him I felt like I’d known him forever. Awesome, awesome guy. Of course I cannot thank him enough. There is a possible opportunity coming up to where I might get to meet him face to face soon here. Hopefully it works out.
And in response to your comment to Sue P. Bill is truly an inspirational guy.
I hope others that read this find the story inspiring. I’m just trying to take what Bill has done for me and pass the buck and try to help others in our situation now.
Sincerely,
Tammey Brown
