From over 400 pounds to 230, Jimmy Moore is

Next time I’m at the bookstore, I will be checking out Phoenix’s book. Her cover pic is absolutely stunning! The guy ain’t too shabby either!!!
I was utterly amazed that she was 46 and the man was 53 when that cover photo was shot. WOW! What an amazing testimony to what livin’ la vida low-carb can do.
Hi Jimmy,
I enjoyed this interview with Phoenix Gilman. Tons of great information and now I know I’m going in the right direction with my own diet and workout.
I recently bought the family a set of free weights and my kids and I love using them.
One thing, though, about Phoenix’s recommendation to get a personal trainer. I used to work in the weight room of a health club, (20 years ago!) very closely with the trainers, and they enjoy sending people home to nurse sore muscles. Many trainers don’t think they’ve done their job well unless their trainee calls them the next day, cursing them for the pain they feel. This kind of trainer is still common and anyone searching for a P.T. should weed out this type. You’ll never want to work out again (you can probably vouch for that, Jimmy, after this past week!).
Best to you and Christine,
Karen B.
OMG, you’re not even kidding, Karen! Why do these personal trainers think they can beat you up and think that’s normal. EEEEK! Great comments!!!
Jimmy, thanks so much for having Phoenix Gilman on your show! She was great! I just bought her book on Amazon and look forward to tearing into it. Boy, she was right on about these various industries and everything being about the money. That’s all it boils down to and it makes me sick… I was cheering when I heard her call it like it is with these guys! I say this stuff all the time to my poor family, they must be sick of hearing it but its true! Thanks again for all you do for us little guys, I really appreciate it.
sniff…sob…I enjoy Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi so much! I have consumed untold amounts of aspartame…what to do…what to do…no side effects…except maybe a twitch of two…har har
I guess I need to switch to DC with Splenda….but I love DC and DC w/Lime and others.
I guess this is a smaller step than my original change to a low carb lifestyle.
I honestly feel that I would NOT have succeeded losing the 77 pounds so far, if I had not had DC and other diet sodas.
I’ll have to really consider lowering my consumption of aspartame…or just go “cold turkey.”
I will have to work up to it….
Ab
THANKS Catrina! It’s good to know there are people like Phoenix Gilman out there who are LIVING these changes in her own life and with GREAT SUCCESS!
I switched away from NASTY-tame a long time ago, Ab. It’s just best for your body considering all the literature out there about aspartame. And it is a lot better and easier than losing the weight was indeed!
YOU CAN DO IT, my friend. Diet Rite is AMAZING! Add some True Lime to it and you’ve got a substitute for DC w/Lime.
Hi Jimmy,
This is the first interview of yours that I’ve listened to… it was great! I ordered the book. I’m very excited that you have such SCIENCE based weight loss information on your show. Thank you again for all of the great work!
Andrea
Great and inspiring interview Jimmy - so good I am going to listen to it again and send it on to friends
Excellent interview, Jimmy! She has an amazingly toned body. And she doesn’t live in the gym? Man. I must be doing something wrong!
Seriously, though, Phoenix was really inspiring and enjoyable to listen to. Thanks for introducing us to such great people. I hope I can get my hands on that book sometime.
Welcome Andrea! I’m glad you finally listened to the podcast and Phoenix was a GREAT one to begin with. Stick around a while, my friend! We’ve got lots more on tap for ya!
I agree Helena! Phoenix is an incredible woman and this interview is a DEFINITE keeper. That’s why I decided to run it all in one day–utterly amazing stuff!!!
You’ll LOVE LOVE LOVE the book Taiwan gal! I hope you can pick it up soon.
THANKS for listening everyone!
I loved this interview and found it so interesting. I do have one question, though. She briefly mentioned when speaking about consuming good carbs along with fats that you should eat berries whole instead of blending them into protein shakes. Do you know why this is? I have been blending mine into shakes for quite some time, and I did not realize there could be something wrong with this.
I’ll ask Phoenix about that Tracey, but it may have something to do with the sugar content in the berries. I know she said to make sure you eat fat with the carbs like berries to slow the blood sugar rise. Lemme have her answer this for you.
Tracy, I believe the reason it is better to eat whole berries than blended is that blending them breaks down a portion of the fiber, thereby changing its glycemic index.
THANKS Kevin and you are EXACTLY right! Here’s what Phoenix said about it when I e-mailed her:
You need to eat all fruit in their NATURAL state so as let the body “break down” the fiber, which helps greatly in LOWERING the glycemic response that will most certainly be caused by the fruit SUGAR found in all fruit. When you blend the fruit, you turn it into SUGAR water, as a liquid carb then, it will affect the blood sugar levels quickly and dramatically leading to insulin spiking and fat storage! Even so, you also need to never eat fruit/carbs alone, always combining with a healthy fat and/or protein.
THANK YOU for your question, Tracey!
Jimmy (and Kevin and Phoenix),
Thanks so much for answering my question. I knew that it was better to eat the entire fruit rather than just the juice and to eat it with some healthy fat, but I didn’t realize that blending the fruit would be such a problem! I’ll have to rethink the way I make my smoothies from now on. I had been blending about 1/4 cup of fresh or frozen raspberries into my homemade breakfast shake nearly every morning. I guess you learn something new every day.
Happy to help, Tracey! Keep at it!!!
