Welcome to the most popular low-carb podcast available on this or any other planet–“The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show With Jimmy Moore!”

In today’s Episode 137, our host Jimmy is proud to present two fantastic interviews about the documentary you may have heard about low-carb called My Big Fat Diet. This film is only available for viewing in Canada at the moment (except for 3 lucky listeners today–stay tuned!), but it is an amazing chronicle of Dr. Jay Wortman and his effort to treat the health problems of an entire First Nation village by convincing them to embrace the diet of their ancestors. As a fellow First Nation citizen, Dr. Wortman knows this means a diet high in fat and specifically heavy in something called oolichan grease, which is like a fishy olive oil.

In the first segment of this episode, Jimmy talks with the documentary’s producer Mary Bissell who attended the American Society of Bariatric Physicians and Nutrition & Metabolism conference in Phoenix, AZ last month to show her one-hour flick to doctors (with an enthusiastic response) followed by a second segment with Dr. Wortman himself. You won’t want to miss this fantastic podcast show!

ALSO: Listen in for details about our special contest that will award 3 copies of the My Big Fat Diet DVD (compliments of Mary Bissell) to three lucky listeners!!

Hello and welcome to the world’s hottest low-carb podcast, “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!”

Today, our host Jimmy has an intriguing interview with blogger AmyB, a former (twice banned!) member of the fraudulent Kimkins diet web site. Amy was a hold-out at the site long after many saw the handwriting on the wall–that Heidi Diaz, aka “Kimmer”, was a fraud. Eventually, though, there came a breaking point and Amy couldn’t hold her tongue any longer.

A brief online mention of a haircare product and a mere mention of the name of someone we all know resulted in a PermaBan for AmyB. Listen in to Episode 123 to hear AmyB’s story of fraud, self-delusion, victimization and redemption. This is yet another dagger in the heart of Heidi Diaz and her ruthless Kimkins diet scam!

Transcript of Episode 123:

Jimmy Moore: We’re back here at the Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb show with Jimmy Moore and today we have a special guest with us, her name is Amy B. A lot of people may recognize Amy B’s name from the Kimkins controversy that’s been going on. Well, Amy B. recently created a blog, gee, imagine that, everybody and their momma’s got a blog these days, and hers is at amyb1569.wordpress.com.if you are interested at all in what’s going on with some of the behind the scenes controversy with the Kimkins diet and everything that’s happening with that, then you will want to check out that blog but today we have her here with us here on the show, welcome, Amy!

Amy B: Hi, Mr. Jimmy Moore, how are you this morning?

Jimmy Moore: Oh, we’re just super-duper and …

Amy B: Good!

Jimmy Moore: … we’re just so excited to have you here. So, tell us a little bit about why you wanted to come on the show today — what’s happening in your life that, uh, you wanted to share with the good listeners here.

Amy B: Well, as most everybody knows, I was a member at Kimkins for quite some time. I have been banned twice — the last time I was banned, it, it’s permanent, not going back. And, it’s turned out to be a good thing, but as I have been banned, a lot of time and a lot of energy I’ve been spending on myself trying to figure out certain things about how things work and why things work, and — some interesting things have come to light that I’m sure I’m not the only one that has experienced, so I’ve been working on trying to reach out to some of the ladies who were left there after — I left, and letting them know that there is no magic cure for all this weight loss that it’s all up to each of us and we can do it with or without being on Kimkins. So, that’s where I’m at right now, that’s why I have the blog and I’m working hard on that and I hope that they’ll read it.

Jimmy Moore: Well, let’s back up just a second, Amy, so that, uh, I guess we can give proper context. When did you join, uh, the Kimkins site?

Amy B: To be honest, I don’t remember the exact date, it was right before — well, not right before, it was a couple of months before the Woman’s World interview was even talked about, I can remember being in, followed around the Egg White Challenge, and it was brought up there and — so I’d really been there a good couple of months before it was even brought up.

Jimmy Moore: So maybe last April? Sounds like about last April.

Amy B: Yeah, probably – no, it would have been before April because my son was in the hospital in April I think we’re looking at maybe even like February or so, February or March.

Jimmy Moore: Okay, so a little more than a year ago it sounds like.

Amy B: Yes, mm hmm.

Jimmy Moore: And when all of the Woman’s World Magazine controversy and everything started coming out in the fall, last year — why didn’t you leave then when Christin and Deni and Becky and different ones decided that enough was enough it was time to go?

Amy B: You know what; I don’t really know a good answer to that. I –, you might have been reading my emails yesterday cause that was the topic of my emails yesterday, back and forth.

Jimmy Moore: Oh really? (Laughs)

Amy B: I really don’t have a good answer to that. I do know that — I put myself in a different category than I did — you know with Christin and that crowd because they didn’t know what I knew. Then, when they found it out, they collected themselves and they left, and I stayed. I can’t honestly say that I didn’t — it’d be easy for me to say I didn’t believe it — obviously I didn’t want to believe it and honest—I didn’t understand a lot of it either. I didn’t know the ins and outs of their relationship there, I didn’t know who all was the people were who had been banned in the past. All I knew was, I was losing weight — I was there, I started dropping quite a bit of weight, and you know, that was my goal at the time.

Jimmy Moore: How much did you weigh at your highest?

Amy B: 223

Jimmy Moore: And you’ve been able to get down to what?

Amy B: I was 139 this morning.

Jimmy Moore: Wow! Congratulations! That’s awesome!

Amy B: Thank you, thank you. I had been an Atkins girl,

Jimmy Moore: Right.

Amy B: I love Atkins. I probably did Atkins to suit my needs versus what I should have done, I did the Atkins where you could, you know, eat as much cheese and as much kind of, fattening foods as you wanted.

Jimmy Moore: Sure.

Amy B: And I now know that if I had gone back and done Atkins, probably in a smarter way I could have probably lost the weight that way also.

Jimmy Moore: Right.

Amy B: In fact I’m working on a fall-back plan now for maintenance. But getting back to your original question, was, I stayed because I was losing weight, I stayed because that was “home” for me.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: I wasn’t doing Atkins any more, so in the past I’d always been on Atkins, so I didn’t know exactly where I was going to go. I did branch out, I started a membership at your group, I followed Amy over to her group. I branched out, but I never quite felt at home. And I think that was because I just didn’t give it time or put more energy into being, that’s where I was going to be at. And I’d also met a large group of friends that I — I felt like that I needed and, and, need the support and thinking back on it, all my friends that I followed around from thread to thread – they had all left. I followed Amy around with everything that she did — the Egg White Challenges, the shakes, all of those things that they did I followed them, so that when they left, I was kind of in a bad place for a little bit. Then I found a home in one or two threads and that’s where I stayed at. So, I don’t really have a good excuse or reason for that, I — stayed and as things came out more and more often I found myself feeling a too-often pain in my stomach that, they really are right. There is really something very wrong here. You know, I’ll share with you the day that I really realized that something was very wrong, and I lost all my respect with — Kimmer herself, is, the day about the Russian Brides. I could have cared less, really, to be honest, about how much Heidi weighed. That to me, I felt sorry for her. I felt bad for her because I know how easy it is to get caught up in the weight loss and gaining it back and — I do think it was wrong for her to lie and to promote her diet and tell us what we needed to do and how we needed to do it when at the same time she was eating whatever she wanted.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: But — the distinct lie to me was the Russian Brides. That showed a very calculated, time to think about it, had plenty of time to think about it and to realize it wasn’t the right thing to do –

Jimmy Moore: Right.

Amy B: — the manipulation and that was when I really realized that — it was a bad, bad situation.

Jimmy Moore: For the sake of the people who don’t know, Amy, the Russian Brides thing that she’s talking about is she took actual Russian models that were posted on the internet and used those as the “after” pictures in some before-and-after stories that she showing and so that kind of brought it home for you, huh Amy?

Amy B: It did, and then you have to realize too that my picture was among those Russian Brides and I, I kind of got a laugh one day when I logged on to a certain website and they were looking for Russian Brides and (laughs) I saw my name and I said, “Well, I know she’s not a Russian Bride!”

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: And — I thought, “I’ve really put my picture on her website and I’m mixed with all of this controversy.”

Jimmy Moore: How did it make you feel to be a part of something that you discovered was a scam?

Amy B: It was, I can remember reading it and my mouth just fell open. I was just like –

Jimmy Moore: Yeah

Amy B: I can remember it like it was yesterday. I was so disappointed and I was so shocked that that part of it wasn’t real. I knew when I saw the pictures of Heidi that that was Heidi. I knew it was. You, you can’t look at somebody and lie so many times and think that sooner or later it’s not going to be found out.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah

Amy B: Obviously that was Heidi. The mistake she made was going on and on and on about it. But, when she did the Russian Brides, it was just a complete manipulation and I had looked at all of these pictures and said, “Wow. Well, if this person can do it and that person can do it that means that I can do it.” And then when I found out that none of those people were real, for a split second it took away the, “Oh, I can do it too.” I kind of forgot that I had done it and I didn’t need those people to be real –

Jimmy Moore: Mmm hmm.

Amy B: But it kind of took the, you know, took my backing away for a little bit. I — I didn’t like having my pictures associated — in the same mix with as all that was. So — that was, that was the “aha!” moment for me and — you know, I should have left then, I should have really just said, “I’m done; I’m leaving, take my picture down.” But, as we all know, I didn’t do that.

Jimmy Moore: So, the “aha!” moment happened initially with the pictures coming out and that was like in, October, November last year. What, what was the final straw that broke the camel’s back that said to Amy B, “It’s time to go?”

Amy B: Well, honestly, Amy B didn’t say it was time to go.

Jimmy Moore: Okay.

Amy B: Uh, I’m disappointed to have to, you know, to admit to myself and everybody else – Amy B might certainly still be sitting there at her site if Kimmer had not taken care of that on her own.

Jimmy Moore: And what did she do?

Amy B: And that’s something I struggle with.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: I really still struggle with that, that I didn’t have what it was, in me, to do the right thing, you know, for myself. I got, I’m sure you know, that I got banned back in December, 2007. And — that is really when the manipulation on her side started in and that’s really when I should have basically, probably how weak when it came to my — morals of Kimkins, I’ll call it.

Jimmy Moore: Okay.

Amy B: Um, I got banned, actually, for mentioning that I was going to have lunch with you –

Jimmy Moore: (Laughs)

Amy B: — when I was in our home town of Spartanburg, South Carolina –

Jimmy Moore: Woohoo!

Amy B: I was there, yeah, I was there visiting with my mom. My stepdad had had a very serious surgery and –

Jimmy Moore: Right

Amy B: I thought it would be a perfect time for you to take me away from hospital food and we could go get something good to eat.

Jimmy Moore: Sure.

Amy B: Good might have been different in your mind than what I was thinking, but — that’s our story. I, I got banned. I –

Jimmy Moore: Just for mentioning you wanted to have lunch with me, that got you banned?

Amy B: You were the topic of my banning, yes.

Jimmy Moore: (Laughs) Oh, that’s pathetic!

Amy B: I — that is really pathetic. I got an email back from her. I will tell you, I will share this up front, that I probably did what I would consider a little bit of begging. I’m embarrassed by that but you know, I, I just tell it like it is. Anybody who really knows me well knows I tell the good and the bad. And I did some begging, I wanted to be back, I was desperate to get back.

Jimmy Moore: And, and let me clarify, you wanted to be back because you missed the people who were there, the, the connection that’d you’d made with a community.

Amy B: Exactly.

Jimmy Moore: It had nothing to do with Heidi Diaz/Kimmer, it was all about making sure that those people that you had touched and had touched you, knew that you were still there for them, and, and loved them, right?

Amy B: Exactly, it has absolutely nothing to do with, with — Heidi. Absolutely nothing. And I love to call her Heidi because that’s her name, it took me so –

Jimmy Moore: Heidi Kimberly Diaz. That’s her name, exactly.

Amy B: It took me so long to know that, that I catch myself, sometimes when I write “Kimmer” I, I go back and I erase it and I put “Heidi” cause it was a lot of work putting in to finding out what her real name was. But, let me just tell you a little bit about how, when I got banned because I’m sure I’m not the only one that she handled in this way.

Jimmy Moore: Okay.

Amy B: I decided, uh, that I needed to get back there. I was in a thread; I was in two threads that I was — very active in. We even kind of nicknamed it the, “Eight Is Enough and Friends” cause there were — eight of us at the time and we were all extremely close. And — I needed to be in that thread. I had stuff going on in my personal life and that was my outlet. You know, Heidi — has mentioned in some personal emails that were directed my way that she doesn’t understand how in the world I spend so much time online when I have all of this medical stuff with my son going on and what she doesn’t realize is that a lot of people have — outlets that they use. And I always kind of joke that I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t do drugs, I did Kimkins. And — I would spend the time in the hospital, when Philip was, you know, not able to, to interact or do those things, I would go online and I built my friendships and that was my support system. And she used that to her advantage. But — yes, I got banned. I got a very, after I kind of begged a little bit, I got a very nasty email back telling me that, how dare I say that I was going to have lunch with Jimmy Moore, that did I not know that he had made a video – which, I still haven’t found the video – making (inaudible) of all of the Kimkins people. That it was a very big disrespect for, for me to go have lunch with him — with you. She wanted no more mention at all of my hair; I was not allowed to mention my hair at all –

Jimmy Moore: What was the matter with your hair?

Amy B: Well, I had some hair loss and I had mentioned it. I hadn’t gone on and on about it but I had mentioned it. I had mentioned –

Jimmy Moore: On the site, you mentioned it? On the Kimkins site?

Amy B: Yeah, mm hmm. Just in general.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: I didn’t have one of these “Oh my gosh!” moments that you –

Jimmy Moore: Right.

Amy B: — see some people have, I mentioned that I had some hair loss; I mentioned that I — had found some new products I was trying. I asked about some different products. I had also mentioned that I had seen — my doctor and that it was time, at my weight loss, to start adding, you know, some foods back in.

Jimmy Moore: Right.

Amy B: That was brought up in her email, that I was not allowed to mention seeing my doctor at all. I was not allowed to mention bringing — any supplements in. I definitely was not allowed to mention my hair whatsoever. And the — the biggest thing was – and this should have been my sign – was that I was not allowed fake nice.

Jimmy Moore: (Laughs)

Amy B: And I really didn’t know what she meant by that. Now thinking about that –

Jimmy Moore: (Laughs) I was going to say, what does that mean?

Amy B: Well, it’s a word that she uses quite often because it’s in a lot of her emails about ‘so-and-so is a fake nice’ so that must be just the terminology that she uses. But — she told me –

Jimmy Moore: How do you determine if somebody’s fake or real nice, that’s just weird.

Amy B: I don’t know, ‘because I pretty much consider myself a nice person.

Jimmy Moore: You’re a very nice person, Amy!

Amy B: Yeah, I don’t that I’m fake. In fact, if I was fake I would have handled things a lot differently than what I did. I put myself out there being honest and true and –

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: — some ways, this made my look kind of bad.

Jimmy Moore: You’re so ‘real’ nice, it’s not even funny! (Laughs)

Amy B: Yeah, it was a true nice! But — yeah, I had a list of things, you know, that I was allowed to do and not allowed to do. And — the most embarrassing thing –

Jimmy Moore: How did that make you feel? Did you, did you feel like she was trying to be a, mommy complex? I mean, what was that all about?

Amy B: No. It was not a ‘mommy.’ It was a, ‘you do it this way.’ Let me just add, the final sentence of her email to me was, “I gave you a membership. Now use it for the good of Kimkins.”

Jimmy Moore: She gave you a membership?

Amy B: And just to address that real quick — there seems to be a little controversy about my membership at Kimkins. I — found Kimkins through Low Carb Friends, I was looking for a recipe, and I found a certain person there that looked really good, and had lost a lot of weight, and –

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: I read about her, and I don’t know, I don’t remember if she was doing Kimkins. But something she said was, “That sounds like a Kimkins recipe.” Well, of course, I had to figure out what Kimkins was. So, I googled it and I can’t believe I didn’t know anything about Kimkins, I was in Atkins world, and, and Kimkins was not even known to me. I wrote a, I think it was a ticket or a tech support or something, and I guess it went to Heidi herself.

Jimmy Moore: Right.

Amy B: And I just told her that I would like to join, but that — I was dealing with the medical stuff with my son. And that even though the membership, I think it was $39.95 at the time, because it was before her article came out –

Jimmy Moore: Sounds like it.

Amy B: That uh, really, I didn’t feel like that I could put that money towards myself right now, because we did have a lot of medical bills and I’m sure a lot of people realize that when you have things going on in your personal life, and you’ve tried all the diets there are and you go out and you buy the shakes and the supplements and the this and the that – there comes the time when you’re like, I really can’t waste any more money –

Jimmy Moore: Right.

Amy B: — on trying to find the cure for the weight loss. So, I asked her if I could — do it kind of in a layaway thing, could I just divide it into two payments. She wrote me back, she said that would be fine. I sent the initial payment to her, and — didn’t have the membership or anything, had planned on sending the other half, and at that time, my son Philip ended up in — the ICU at the hospital and it’s in an out-of-town hospital and I didn’t, I wasn’t in a position where I had, you know, my checkbook or could go to the bank or do what I needed to so. So I just emailed her and said, I don’t want to lose that first half of my, quote, ‘layaway payments.’ Can you just hold on to my membership and when I get home in a week or so, I will — send it off to you. And this is probably where it began. She wrote me back and said to take care of Philip, that was my main concern, here was my password information, and to jump in and join the site and to lose weight. And I think that that kindness that she showed me by doing that might have been where, in my mind, uh, the manipulation kind of started. And the fact that she used that against me when she banned me — said a lot. I offered to pay her a full membership when I came back in because I kind of didn’t like the fact that she had that over my head.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: The confusing thing for me was — this is how far I went in the beginning to kind of protect her – is when everybody was talking about how money-hungry she was, and this is long before the photos and all of that, I asked her, I emailed her and asked her, “Would you like me to kind of mention that you gave me the membership for free?” And she said no. It would have been the perfect opportunity for her to be seen in a good light because, you know, what she did at that time period, she didn’t know me and I find it hard to believe that she had it all, you know, worked out, that far in advance what she was going to do with me and my membership. So, I look at that as that would have been something that would have shown that she, she had a kind bone in her. But she didn’t want it mentioned and I didn’t mention, I didn’t mention it. Although, when it became useful for her to throw that up, people thinking that some of them didn’t know, she used that against me, that I had a free membership, and I had begged for a free membership, and that was absolutely not true. So, getting back to the email, that’s what she put in the email. I had a big long list, you were at the top of the list, I wasn’t going to be able to have lunch with you, and couldn’t mention my hair and all of those good things that we just talked about and, uh, then she left me hanging for three days, still not able to get in.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: And I spoke to — Jeannie, who was her — had been her public relations person.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah, Jeannie Baitinger, right.

Amy B: Mm hmm. And I asked Jeannie for her telephone number, for Kimmer’s telephone number. I think I even emailed you for her telephone number!

Jimmy Moore: You did.

Amy B: If I remember correctly!

Jimmy Moore: You did.

Amy B: And, every phone number that people gave me was disconnected. I kind of think it’s funny now that I was going to call her and explain to her she was going to give me my membership back.

Jimmy Moore: Did you hear what happened when I called her, not that long ago? A couple months ago I called and she says “Hello?” and I said, “Hey, Heidi?” And she went, “Uhhhhhhhhhh, she’s not home right now.” And it was her. (Laughs) And I said, “It’s Jimmy Moore, I want to talk to you about some things,” and she went, “Uhhhhhhhhhhhh, okay, your name is Jimmy Moore, okay,” as if she was taking a message for ‘Heidi.’ And towards the end of the conversation, I was like, “Heidi, just talk to me, I know that’s who you are.” And she’s just like, “Um, I think you have the wrong number and she clicked and hung up on me. (Laughs)

Amy B: Oh and then she probably disconnected that phone number right away.

Jimmy Moore: Oh, I’m sure she did! (Laughs)

Amy B: Well, she just turns things around because I gave Jeannie; Jeannie gave me a phone number didn’t work –

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: — and I knew that Singinglass – I think her name is Delaney – was still very much involved over there, so I said, “You know, if you don’t feel comfortable giving me Delaney’s phone number, which I understood, give Delaney my phone number and ask her to please call me.” You know there was a lot, there was some desperation going on, I admit that. I really needed to get back in and I was going to convince them, you know, to let me back in.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: Well, of course, Delaney didn’t call but it wasn’t, I swear to you, thirty minutes later, I got an email saying, “Did you know that Jeannie’s passing your phone number all over the website? Everybody has it.” Well, no, everybody didn’t have it, but Singinglass had it and that was the way that it all got turned around, that Jeannie was doing this. And that’s the way that she left me hanging for three days.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: And that’s how she comes back at it. And this is the funniest part. I still think of this and it shocks me. She sends me an email and she says to me, the same day, “Oh. You were banned? I had no idea! –”

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: “–I thought you left, you took your pictures down. You know, I’m not very computer savvy, I must have hit the wrong button.”

Jimmy Moore: Mmm. (Laughs)

Amy B: Well, what happened to the list of demands you had of me to un-ban me three days before? So, you know, the email was so real that if I hadn’t known better, I would have believed it. And I think that’s the problem, is that what Heidi says comes across as very real, and it confuses people.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: I went back in, and I tried to behave. I tried to do, you know, everything that I was told to do, and it’s just kind of silly, thinking back on it now. But you know, as a teenager, I wasn’t that good of a teenager, I rebelled. So it amazes me that I didn’t rebel when I was at the Kimkins site. But I think I mentioned one time about a new hair straightener that you could use like a blow drier and she took that post down. She really meant the things that I was not allowed to talk about. And then she wanted me to go to New York. So there was a very different type of – one minute, you know, she had these lists of rules and I had to obey and do this and the next minute, I was her prize pupil. I think she used that terminology quite often with me –

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: — that I was her prize student, and how well I had done. I even joked around in an email where she was upset with me in open post that if she kept buttering me up and putting me up on that pedestal that it was going to be hard for people to believe that she really hated me. We had some confrontations in some posts. It was all done kind of in a nice overtone, but anybody reading through the lines could see that she pretty much despised me and I pretty much, pushed her, maybe, as far as I could without getting banned. And you know, in the end she showed her true colors to me.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: And she really did. She wanted me to go to New York –

Jimmy Moore: Yeah, what was that all about?

Amy B: — she had many conversations with me about going, I think instead of Singinglass, because they would only pay for two people.

Jimmy Moore: Are you talking about to appear on –

Amy B: Yes.

Jimmy Moore: — what was it, the “Mike and Juliet Show?”

Amy B: Right. And I was excited; I was excited for like five minutes. And then, what happened was, I knew. I knew I could not sit across from Christin and Deni and anybody else and listen to what they had to say and then say, “Oh, no. That’s not true. Oh, I haven’t had those issues.” I told them flat out that I would not be a good person to go on that trip with them because I had medical issues and that I – I should be sitting on the other side.

Jimmy Moore: Amy, I so wish that you had gone and then flipped on them! (Laughs)

Amy B: Right, but I wasn’t ready yet –

Jimmy Moore: I know.

Amy B: — I wasn’t there, I wasn’t ready.

Jimmy Moore: Oh, that would have been beautiful! (Laughs)

Amy B: Yes, it would have been interesting and you know, you never know. There’s always some talk about people going back and figuring out they did some things wrong. Obviously, there is some controversy where Jeannie is concerned. But, I will tell you that she, she is probably – let me back up. I probably convinced Jeannie more than anybody that there are medical concerns. I didn’t know Jeannie very well at all, but the more she started talking to me the more she realized that I was not against Kimmer, I was not against Kimkins.com and I still had these problems. I still had these issues and I wasn’t even against them, so you couldn’t say, “Oh. Well, Amy B’s just saying this because she’s not here any more. Amy B’s just saying this because she’s not losing weight.”

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: Because Amy B was there, Amy B was losing weight and Amy B was put up on a pedestal but yet I’m still having these issues. So she realized that they were real. So, really and truly, Jeannie would be a perfect person to go back on that show and say, “You know what? I was wrong. I didn’t realize.”

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: And you know, you never know, I think that that might happen one day.

Jimmy Moore: Amy, it has been such a pleasure having you on her today. I know you said you’re now in your quest, in your search for finding that plan, that maintenance plan that’s going to help you keep that weight off. Which, congratulations once again –

Amy B: Thank you!

Jimmy Moore: — that is a remarkable achievement. I know you have been to my site, lowcarbdiscussion.com, you’ve been to Low Carb Friends, you’ve been to Amy’s site, the former Kimkins member, Amy – and it’s just, you know, find what’s going to work for you and then do that plan. And you know, we’re not all the same.

Amy B: Right.

Jimmy Moore: We all have individualized plans that work for the individual. I particularly use a high-fat, low-carb diet plan; others do a little better with a little lower fat low-carb plan. But the key is to find that plan that will work for you and I’m sure there’s one out there that will make you, I guess, down the straight and narrow for the rest of your life. And that’s what it’s all about.

Amy B: Right, I do want to add one quick thing before we end.

Jimmy Moore: Sure.

Amy B: You said something that triggered something.

Jimmy Moore: Okay.

Amy B: It is an individual plan for us. And that’s the one thing I have wanted to reach out with, with my blog. I didn’t lose weight because I was at Kimkins. I didn’t lose weight because Heidi had me at her site. I didn’t lose weight for any other reason except I made a decision about what I was going to do and every meal, I made a conscious effort – “Am I going to do this? Am I worth it? And what do I want? And the end result.” So, all of the people who are still at Kimkins, or any site, they can do this, without being there. People who are at your site, for example, they don’t lose weight because of Jimmy Moore. They lose weight because Jimmy Moore has a place where he offers support, he offers suggestions, you know, he offers advice.

Jimmy Moore: Right.

Amy B: But in the end, you know yourself from losing a lot of weight, it was what you did as an individual.

Jimmy Moore: Right. I had no support other than my wife when I was losing weight.

Amy B: Right. So, the people who said, and they know who I’m talking about, that they needed to stay there because they needed to get to goal and they couldn’t leave until they were at goal – you can get to goal someplace else. You may even find that you get to goal someplace else without all the drama and the controversy.

Jimmy Moore: (Laughs)

Amy B: It really is hard when you’re in a place where you fee like you have to watch every single word you say. It adds a lot of pressure on you, and as we all know, pressure causes – for me – emotional eating.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: So, if you’re still there and you don’t – you have that feeling that I had of feeling lie you’re betraying your morals and your common sense, then you know what? Find another place to go. Reach out, come to my blog, come to any of the places you just mentioned. Jeannie has the camp, it’s a great place to go. You have your place, there’s Low Carb Friends, there’s a million plus places out there to go. There’s individuals like myself, who have people like Christin and Deni and Becky who reach out to them. You don’t have to be there, it’s not a magical place. It really is not a magical place, and I wish I had learned that, you know, earlier. So, I would really like to see the people who like that they have to stay there, and they’re only there because they’re not at goal, to look at themselves in the mirror and say, “You know what? I lost the weight. I did something that even Heidi couldn’t do.”

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: I did it. If Heidi’s plan was perfect and it was all of that, then you know what? She would have lost the weight, Oprah would be there, all of these people who are real people – who struggle in the limelight, would have been there. And they’re not there.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.

Amy B: I mean, you look at the pictures of Heidi – I’m not saying anything against her because she heavy. I was heavy. I was miserable heavy. But you know, one thing about me is, I gained twenty pounds over the holidays. I put it out there, I said I gained the weight, and I’m paying the price for it. I still am not back to where I was at, at Thanksgiving. There is no magic, if there was magic, I guarantee you Heidi and everyone else would have done it and would be at their goals by now.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah

Amy B: It’s an individual thing. You have to look at yourself and say, what am I willing to do to get to goal. And I don’t want them to be willing to sacrifice their morals and sacrifice what they know – the drama, the chaos, because it’s filled with chaos.

Jimmy Moore: Yeah.
