Hi, Jimmy--

Thanks (1) for posting a transcript--otherwise I would have missed this bit of wisdom, and (2) thanks for relating your story. It's been very helpful, as I've been pretty sick this week with bronchitis. I made a great chicken soup with broth I'd made from scratch over the summer and frozen. Instead of croutons or crakers, I dropped in pork rinds, and some chopped up chicken and mushrooms and leeks. Wonderful.

Blessings,

It's funny how we rationalize our way into eating things we really SHOULDN'T. Good for you, Linda, for bucking that trend and refusing to give in. I'm so proud of you! I'm already feeling better today and will likely hit the gym for the first time in over a week today. THANKS again for listening!

Jimmy - this episode couldn't be more timely for me. Cold symptoms started coming on while I was at work today, and by now it's developed into a full-blown cold. Sure enough, I've caught myself wandering aimlessly around the kitchen all night, opening and re-opening the fridge and cabinets, thinking something appealing will magically appear out of thin air. It's been all I can do to stay away from my husband's non-low-carb kettle corn!!! I've been having close calls all night, easily rationalizing how I'm getting sick and how I deserve a night of curling up on the couch under a blanket with some sugary hot chocolate and ice cream.

Thankfully I listened to this episode earlier this evening before these "comfort food munchies hit", 'cause it helped me resolve IN ADVANCE that I would NOT use my cold as an excuse. It helped me easily recognize my trips to investigate the pantry for what they were - attempts to comfort myself (not hunger) - and I was able to stop and think before I did any damage. The strategy worked tonight: deciding IN ADVANCE before the crisis situation arises.

So thanks for helping to bolster my resolve beforehand, Jimmy! It came just in time :) And here's to us getting well SOON!
