You know my philosophy, Jeff--find what works for YOU, do that plan exactly as prescribed, and then keep doing it for the rest of your life. As long as you do that and enjoy whatever it is you have chosen, then I am happy for you.

Too often people feel pinned down by the pressure to cut their calories, fat, and portions that they just give up. That's not a viable option which is why I share about low-carb living as passionately as I do.

THANKS again for your comments and keep listening to the podcast show! :)

Hey Jimmy,

For me it's not an issue of palatbility since I love meat, eggs, and cheese. But I do agree with people like Rob from ZC Daily in that few people can stick with that form of LC over the longhaul since we have so deeply ingrained that we must have carbs (fruits, veggies, etc.). As much as I think it would help me lose the most weight quickly, I also feel I could never completely overcome my carb addictions.

Oh, I agree, Jeff. But that's the impression most people have of "low-carb" although most people including yourself find it unpalatable.

That's why I try to infuse common sense into the debate about the healthy goodness of the low-carb lifestyle. It's not just bacon and butter, it's so much more than that.

When you are trying to educate people about something that goes against all of their preconceived notions, then it's an uphill battle. However, if you can incrementally get them to understand how and why it works in a slow methodical process, then you will be more apt to convince them of the truth.

That's what I'm doing with "The Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Show" podcast. Give people the facts and let them build and build until enlightenment happens. When the light bulb goes off in their mind, then mission accomplished.

THANKS for your feedback, Jeff!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with "Meat, cheese, and eggs" or, " Mounds of bacon and butter", except maybe the bacon part due to nitrates and the other stuff involved in the curing of bacon. Plenty of people get along just fine without eating veggies and fruits. Not that I think I could actually stick to such a plan, but it sure would do me fine if I could.

#6 should be to arm yourself with a think skin because if you don't, there are friends and family who are going to tell you that you are nuts and ask what the heck you are doing!!LOL!
Since you are the boss of you, tell them it's something you are doing for yourself and if you fail, it's YOURS to fail and not theirs.
Tell that to a few people and it will get them to back off............

I know for me, I have noticed there are alot of places I can't eat for the simple fact there the menu just won't let me go there.......thankfully my hubby always asks me first if there is anything I can eat where we go......it's the only way it works if you want to stay on.

A great week of podcasts Jimmy, if for nothing else to help rid of the holiday letdown.
Thanks again.

THANKS for your comments, Jeri. But I think in the grand scheme of foods that we can eat while livin' la vida low-carb, we could probably stand to eat green leafy vegetables like spinach instead of iceberg lettuce or cauliflower for tomatoes.

Sure, tomatoes are certainly better for you than a candy bar, but I wouldn't make tomatoes a regular part of your diet during the early days of livin' la vida low-carb. Perhaps in maintenance after you've lost your weight, but not Induction.

Regarding the supplementation, I'm not "resorting" to taking vitamins on my low-carb plan. They are an ESSENTIAL PART of any good health plan regardless of which program you use--low-fat, low-carb, low-calorie, portion control, WHATEVER.

Again, THANK YOU for your feedback, but I have to speak the truth with the facts. How about the fact that people think potatoes are healthy because they are a vegetable? And people SERIOUSLY think eating French fries is "healthy" for them because they are veggies? UGH!

And what about OJ and bananas? Same question. The point of my statements was to get people to start prioritizing in their mind what is truly healthy and what is not. For long-time low-carbers like yourself, you already KNOW what is good for you. But the average Joe and Jane on the street just learning about low-carb, they do not.

That's why I wanted to do this week-long edition of the podcast. Education, encouragement, and the truth--all in heavy doses!

Jimmy--
I wouldn't call iceberg lettuce and tomatoes junk carbs or "garbage" carbs. Tomatos are a rich source of lycopene and potassium and iceberg lettuce is a huge source of vitamin K (which I tend to be deficient in; in fact, people on cumadin are warned not to eat too much iceberg lettuce because of the vitamin K content), potassium and phosphorus. I work them in with the low carb nutrient dense veggies I eat. They (as with anything) just can't be the only veggies I eat and everyone should have a wide variety of vegetables to get all their nutrients without having to resort to supplements.
