As always, this was a great podcast and interview. I love to listen to your podcasts while exercising.
Dr. Vernon is a wonderful doctor and advocate for the low carb lifestyle. I have been low carbing (20-30g daily) for the last two months since receiving a type 2 diabetes diagnosis (A1c 6.5%). I’ve lost just about 20 lbs and my BG numbers have improved greatly – no medication.
I am so gratefu,l to you Jimmy, for the information you provide.
My doctor (GP) mailed me my results with a note saying “come back in 3 months”. I needed to go to his office and ask for a glucose meter. He told me to “lose weight”. Something that was painfully obvious and has been a problem since my youth. I tried in vain for years to lose the weight via low fat/high carb diets and like many others was fruitless in my efforts.
I am truly blessed to have come across the information you and few others provide. I believe, without it, I would end up like my Father and paternal Grandmother – dead at the age of 61 due to complications of IR/type 2 diabetes.
Part of me feels lucky to have this information. Past generations had little, if any, chance at controlling their diabetes without larger and larger doses of medication. Yet, the other half is very saddened by the fact that many people, including much of our medical community, have chosen to dismiss the current results and the promising future of the low carb lifestyle as a “fad” diet. I cringe at the thought of most diabetics being told to follow the ADA diet. Perhaps this is harsh but, I feel these people are slowly being tortured.
You ended the show with a compelling thought: “How are we going to get passed this impasse whith low carb being so vilified?”
Their is strength in numbers and I think this question should be delved into.
Thank you again.
~Danielle
THANKS so much for sharing your story, Danielle!
I agree with Dr Vernon – Atkins Nutritionals are just trying to be politically correct with their lean protein and wholegrains. It definitely will decrease the effectiveness of Atkins.
Aww man !
Oh, How great and pleasant it is when the experts comes together… Dr Vernon I am so glad you gave your opinion on the South Beach Diet Nutritionals.. ehh I meant Atkins Nutritionals and set the record straight again on what Dr. Atkins said and what he stood for. Thanks for the info on gluconeogenesis and also giving me hope to concentrate saving those who wants to be saved.
Jimmy, once again your questions were so totally SPOT ON !!! Thank you so much for going the extra million miles for us buddy!
