My experience was similar. I was unexpectedly losing weight. This happens because you are so sick from the diabetes. The desease is wrecking your body.

The Atkins diet has cured my diabetes. I still have the desease but it is totally controlled. Dr Atkins says that his diet will cure diabetes throughout his book and I am proof that it does. I have eradicated all symptoms of diabetes and now take no medication. I was on 4 prescription drugs. I was injecting Byetta into my stomach twice a day. My glucose control was not good even with all of these medications. Now with diet and exercise I have low blood glucose, pressure and cholesterol. My A1C is now 5.4 .

Cindy, I am sorry to hear that you have diabetes. My husband is a bad diabetic, taking 3 insulin shots a day. He doesn't take care of himself like he should. I hope you can get this disease under control, and I feel sure you will be able to do just that.

Blessings,
Betty

Thanks for this informative post. My story is quite similar to Cindy's. I used to sleep with water on my night table because of the horrible thirst, and like her, I hadn't a clue! My sugar was 477 when the doctor "caught" it. I'm happy to report that my A1Cs for the past three years are below 6.0 and my medicines have been cut in half!

I'm glad I found your blog; I'll visit again.
