The Biggest Loser’s Bob Harper Asks ‘Are You Ready?’ (Episode 193)
3 11 2008
Welcome back once again for yet another insightful episode of the #1 low-carb podcast available at any price, yet amazingly free of charge (!)–it’s The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!
For today’s show, we are very privileged to be able to bring you an interview with Bob Harper, one of two trainers from the popular NBC weight loss reality show, The Biggest Loser. Bob is well known as the trainer of the “Blue Team” and well-respected in the weight loss industry as a caring and compassionate trainer who gets results by helping people overcome their mental challenges to losing weight and learning to love themselves first. He discusses his fitness approach in this interview about his new book Are You Ready?
Right off the bat, though we need to apologize for audio quality issues with Jimmy’s voice during the interview segment. There may be a slight echo and that issue is on our end, not yours. Fortunately, the sound quality of Bob’s voice is excellent and he is such a talkaholic there’s not too much of Jimmy’s voice to worry about!
While Bob is not specifically a low-carb supporter, he understands the negative health impact of added sugars and that evil high fructose corn syrup. On the other hand he does say, “People are not getting fat from eating bananas, they’re getting fat from eating banana milk shakes!” Listen in for more of Bob’s great tips such as eating within 30 minutes of waking up, keeping a food journal, and getting a pedometer.
Jimmy and Bob crammed a ton of topics into this brief interview so don’t miss a single minute!

From over 400 pounds to 230, Jimmy Moore is

What does he think carbs are? They just turn into sugar in your body. Would he recommend downing 30 grams of sugar for breakfast? No. But he would a banana and skim milk which contains 30 grams of sugar?!
I know. There was no time to debate him on the issue because his publicist only gave me 20 minutes total for the interview.
Although I don’t fully agree with the “whole grain” philosophy, I have to give Bob a lot of credit for caring. He seems to truly be concerned about the people on his team. That is something the execs at the major networks *may* not be thinking about in the fight for ratings.
Bob is a genuine person…but I think he has to toe the conventional wisdom line or Biggest Loser may send him on his way.
