This information has been very helpful. I have been eating low carb since April 18th of this year and have lost about 30 lbs. I am 55 and going through menopause and now everything makes more sense. I know now that I need to move more and accept the fact that my carb intake should stay at 20 grams. I just recently started seeing a new Dr. who was not an Atkins advocate but did not give me a hard time. My recent blood work showed that my triglycerides were within the normal range and my cholesterol dropped from around 230 to 184. Thank you for the excellent online resources.

Yep, iron is really not needed for most people who are livin' la vida low-carb because it is found in most of the foods you get to enjoy on this healthy lifestyle. That's why it's important to find a multivitamin that leaves this out...you don't need it! THANKS for listening, Amy!

I have been wanting to interview Jackie Eberstein for YEARS, Dave! And the thing is I could have done it anytime before because she has always been so accessible to me whenever I have had questions from readers. It's good to have her out there championing the Atkins low-carb way of life and she is a real sweetheart lady, too. I'm so happy she'll be going on the cruise with us in January 2009 where more people can learn from her knowledge and experience.

One of your best interviews, Jimmy. Jackie was an inspiration. The anecdote about her initial meeting with Dr. Atkins was wonderful. We tend to be brainwashed by one-sided picture painted by the national media and it's so good to hear the true facts from someone who was there and worked with the good doctor.

I, for one and I know there are many, many others, bought at least 8 copies of Dr. Atkins books and gave the extras away to friends who were interested in the program, circa 2000.

I can't wait to hear the second part of this interview! I especially enjoyed hearing her explanation on using a multi-vitamin without iron. I had never completely understood the whys behind that. Another great job Jimmy!

Great interview, Jimmy! I also loved the part about women and menopause. I also loved what she had to say about other disorders and their relationship to blood sugar stability. WOW! More people need to hear this information.

THANKS Carl! Jackie really knows her stuff and doesn't mind sharing about it. :)

Aren't you glad to know some of the mechanisms behind low-carb, Teresa? It makes this way of eating so much more desirable when you understand WHY it works.

JayCee, you can meet Jackie too if you come on the low-carb cruise with us in January 2009. We had several international friends join us in Galveston, TX for this year's cruise and would LOVE to see you there next year. ;)

wow!! Great interview!! I loved the part about woman and hormones. I had no idea our hormone will do that to us! My hormones have always been out of wack and I understand now why I have trouble lossing weight when I eat a little more carbs. I believe I am one of those woman that will have to live the 20 carbs a day lifestlye! I also loved all the information on Iron, fatty liver and just all of it! I can't wait to hear part two.

Great interview Jimmy. Obviously a very intelligent lady. This interview is loaded with very good information.

The Atkins diet has saved my health and probably my life. I had diabetes for at least ten years without knowing it. I finally had to diagnose myself, my doctor was too incompetent to do this. By this time the diabetes and had done a lot of damage to my body. I have a lot of neuropathy and pain from this.

The Atkins diet has cured my diabetes! Diabetic medications suck and are open ended, the prescribers of these want you to take them forever and they don't work! If they do work at all, they do very little while causing damage other areas.

Dr Atkins' book is my Diabetes Bible! I have not only read Dr Atkins book, I have memorized it! I am now living the Low Carb for Life and loving it. I agree there are many people who have diabetes and don't know it. Probably for every known diabetic there is someone that has the disease and don't know it.

The ADA sucks. It is a dangerous organization. They are killing people. When I found I was diabetic my wife bought me a ADA book. This book on its cover has a picture of what they called a healthy carbohydrate meal with pasta, bread and potatoes. Not!
