Great interview! — It appears that Gary has completely missed the “Hybrid Carbohydrate Factor” as well as the mental/emotional/thought processes/etc etc, aspects in this matter that are equally tied to our hormones! — It’s not just fat and diabetes were dealing with here!

The hypothesis that without sugar and high fructose corn syrup that we quite possibly might not have this problem with obesity and diabetes, but that now ties itself onto fruit and starch and other carbohydrates, gets blown out of the water when the “Hybrid Carbohydrate Factor” gets added to this equation.

The effects of carbohydrates on our ‘being’ and the effects of hybrid carbohydrates in the form of hybrid fruit and hybrid vegetables and hybrid grain, complete this circle.

Keep up the great work Jimmy, you got the tiger by the tail — Just keep right on swinging and you will get to the bottom of this, and in a lot less than a lifetime!

I really enjoyed hearing a substantial discussion without interruptions. I couldn’t get the Atkins coupon because of my computer set-up but plan to buy an Atkins bar to thank them for sponsoring you.
Gary confirmed what I suspected about researchers doing whatever gives them a paycheck-which is understandable. And none of us want to be told what we’re doing is a waste of time. But the truth is the truth, although hard to hear. He’s probably right. Some powerful people have to hear about LC and get the ball rolling in that direction.
Thanks for the interview.

THANKS Tom and Sharon! We’ll be sharing LOTS more extended discussions like this in 2009, so be looking for them. :)

I was delighted to hear more from Gary Taubes. I find his book to be the best thing I have ever read in the nutrition area and I intend to keep re-reading it until I really understand it and can defend it in public myself. It is going to be a long haul to get the message across but I get energy from you and Taubes and all the others doing all that you can. Thanks for the interveiw.

AWESOME INTERVIEW, Jimmy!!

I am tickled to pieces that great minds like Gary Taubes take the time to share their knowledge us via your podcasts. He definitely has enough going on to maintain an active, informative blog of his own. I was in awe listening to him tell you what’s been going on with him the past year.

He presents a unique perspective that we don’t find anywhere else. He’s not treating patients or losing 100 lbs. on Atkins. He brings an expertise and balanced view of the data that we don’t always get. I like his dogged determination to hold the diet researchers to the same standards as other fields.

It is disheartening to hear how much flack and resistance he and other movers and shakers in the low carb world have to face and, like he said, it will probably be generations beyond us that finally accept the validity of what Gary, Drs. Eades and other experts have been saying. Nevertheless, there are millions of people who would not be healthier, happier and lighter if it weren’t for their tireless crusade.

I am so glad that they (and you) continue on despite the obstacles. I do what little I can in my corner of the world by sharing what I’m learning – including Gary’s articles and book with as many people as I can. I can’t wait for the other books that he’s working on to be completed. I know they will be full of great, honest, clear information.

THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for the Gary Taube interview Jimmy – it was great; I’ll be listening to it over and over. I really enjoyed the tail end, getting to know Gary Taubes on a more personal level.

This is a great week of interviews; I’m totally enjoying every one.

Guillermo (13:29:19) :

Thanks Jimmy. Great to hear Taubes. He is the best and I like his book a lot.
One question. Gary said that he had given lectures around the States. Any idea if there are new podcasts or videos of these lectures? (I’ve seen berkeley and the other one in video google).

Greetings from Finland and keep up the good work.

Jimmy Moore (11:07:32) :

It’s basically the SAME lecture everywhere he’s gone so far, Guillermo. That’s why there hasn’t been duplication. However, I’ll be seeing him at an obesity conference in April, so I’ll see if he changes anything up. :)

I second all the other positives in the comments, but I would also like to know if you know anything about what Gary mentioned as an aside in the interview: Has his new baby arrived yet? I’m still keeping my fingers crossed.

Jimmy Moore (17:43:43) :

The baby came early January.
