Hey, 4 or 5 small or medium eggs should equal about 2 or 3 extra large or jumbo eggs. So I suppose the number of eggs folks consume is relevant. Anyhow, it's true that they keep your hunger at bay. I tell people who are curious about lo carb eating to try this experiment: One day, simply consume 2 eggs for breakfast and nothing else besides water. They'll see that they won't be hungry until way late in the afternoon, thereby proving to themselves a very useful fact about protein and hopefully encouraging them to believe in the livin' la-vida lo-carb way of life, and thereby helping themselves. Cheers...

We need an egg jingle, don't we? Something to capture the imagination of the American public and get them to realize how great adding eggs to their life would be!

By the way, I was reading through the January 2007 issue of Good Housekeeping in the doctor's office today and noticed they listed EGGS and this study I highlighted in my podcast today as one of 15 HEALTHY foods to eat for weight loss.

Who says we're not cutting edge?! :D

I love eggs.
I crack two every morning, put them in a small dish with a lid and take them to work. At break I cook them up in the micro and have them for a mid morning snack.
They are the only snack that keeps me full until lunchtime.

Eggs are awesome, plain and simple. Alongside meat and cheese, you have all you need for a low-carb breakfast, unless you want some veggies.

THANKS Linda and Dan! Eggs really are so versatile and cheap that they are undoubtedly the most "perfect" food you can possibly eat. Isn't it great for only pennies an egg?!

I appreciate your comments!

I used to eat whole grain cereal and skim milk or bagels, muffins, etc. After becoming diabetic and switching to low carb, I prefer a veggie omlet with other varieties of eggs from time-to-time. Eggs are definitely more satisfying than the grain-based stuff. I don't feel hungry soon after breakfast. Now I buy eggs by the crate, rather than just keeping a few on hand. I've also lost weight, improved my glucose control, even improved cholestorol. So much for cholesterol phobia. Eggs also have superior nutritional value, most of which is in the much demonized egg yolk.

Jimmy,I'm an egger also. I have eggs every morning for breakfast-poached,fried,overeasy,scrambled,soft boiled, hard boiled, deviled, sunnyside up,or in an omelet. They make a great, quick snack when hard boiled. I make a batch of boiled eggs every week to keep for an easy treat. I have also had weeks where money was tight ,so eggs were a cheap meal answer to staying low carb.Great podcast, as usual!
