Doctoral student Lina Begdache had the right answer to a child’s question!

Greetings and welcome to “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” the Internet’s premier podcast for news, advocacy and support of the low-carb lifestyle!

Recently a grade school child wrote to her local newspaper in Binghamton, New York with an excellent (although oddly worded) health question about metabolism. The paper asked Lina Begdache, a local Binghamton University Phd doctoral student, to tackle the question.

How’s Hollywood doing when depicting the overweight and obese?

Hello and welcome to Episode 78 of the Internet’s hottest low-carb lifestyle-based podcast, “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!”

Today, our host Jimmy looks at the two-sided issue of the depiction of obesity in Hollywood films. While it is a good thing (from our perspective) that movies are more comfortable having overweight protagonists, there is a decidedly dark side, too.

Oftentimes, these roles go to svelte actors in “fat suits.” Then, the way these characters are depicted on screen plays right in to asinine stereotypes (fat people are jolly, goofy, effeminate…take your pick). Put those two factors together, and it’s starting to look kinda like a fatty-fatty-two-by-four minstrel show.

Today, we bring you a “lost” episode that was only recently found by our host Jimmy while cleaning up his laptop. In the Spring a few months back, Jimmy attended the regional American Society of Bariatric Physicians (ASBP) conference in Nashville, TN and interviewed tons of low-carb-savvy bariatric doctors.

One of these extremely educated bariatric physicians Jimmy spoke with was Dr. Allen Rader from Medical Bariatrics in Idaho. Unfortunately, that interview never aired because the original audio file became quite corrupted.

But after a week of work and a big roll of tape, some super glue, and anything else sticky we could find, this “lost” interview with Dr. Rader has now been stitched back together and is in shape for your podcast enjoyment!

Jimmy was extremely impressed by Dr. Rader’s unique approach to visualizing carbs, why he avoids use the phrase “falling off the wagon” with his patients, and how a person’s commitment to weight loss is more important than the speed at which they lose. This one’s a real low-carb treat for you indeed!

In the end, we know you will agree that this fantastic interview with the fun and folksy, low-carb lovin’ doctor from the land of potatoes was well worth the wait!
