Hey there everybody and welcome back for another great episode of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore!” We’re so glad you could join us this week as we dive into another crucial topic of discussion within the context of low-carb living: SUGAR!

This week Jimmy takes a hard look at the sugar industry’s absurd claim that their product plays absolutely NO role in the obesity epidemic. These outrageous allegations are directly contrasted with a list provided by Dr. Nancy Appleton that outlines the 146 reasons she has found to explain why sugar is bad for your health.

Finally, Jimmy discusses a study that very well may be a way for you to overcome your addiction to sugar like Jimmy did which helped him lose nearly 200 pounds. You DEFINITELY won’t want to miss that!

Greetings low-carbers! Welcome to another power-packed episode of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore.”

Proponents of the low-fat diet fad often whine and complain about the safety of low-carb dieting by declaring it has never been proven by long-term studies. Well, so much for that excuse because as of last week that is no longer the case.

The results are in and the real long-term threat to dieters seems to be the heavy glycemic load created by the over-publicized and highly-touted low-fat, high-carb diet! Tune in to this week’s show to learn all about how science really is catching up with the reality that livin’ la vida low-carb is the real deal that’s here to stay–LONG-TERM!

- Jimmy’s blog post about the Harvard study
- The study as published in The New England Journal of Medicine

Not Just Livin’, It’s ‘The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore’

10 11 2006

The accolades for “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” podcast continue to pile up as more and more people are being attracted to the uplifting, positive message about the low-carb lifestyle that I present each week.

Here are a few more of those comments about Episode 3:

“Great podcast, as usual! I loved your message to restauranteurs: they are only hurting themselves by ignoring low-carbers ’cause we aren’t going anywhere! Keep up the great work, Jimmy!”
****************************
“Another well done show! This episode was very ‘meaty’ (no pun intended) and presented very well. I am so glad to hear that low carb meus are still out there and that the consumer is being heard.”
****************************
“I just listened to your latest podcast, and the main thing that occurred to me is the fact that each podcast is getting better and better. You are learning, and improving with each one. This one had a very ‘professional-quality’ feel about it, and I was impressed. What I liked most about the podcast is finding out that half of the survey participants, whether they realize it or not, are trying to follow at least some of the bullet point items of low carb, like reducing or eliminating sugar and other unhealthy carbs. I wonder how many of those people would then turn around and say that low carb is an unhealthy fad diet???”
****************************
“I look forward to these podcasts–new info about low-carb that I would not be aware of if it wasn’t for Jimmy’s research. He is truly a great teacher of the lifestyle.”
****************************
“Excellent show this week and congratulations on landing ChocoPerfection as a sponsor. Thanks for pointing out the results of those surveys. I get frustrated when restaurants (and grocery stores) stop carrying low-carb friendly items because ‘the low-carb craze is over.’ Keep up the good work!”
****************************
“Jimmy, I love your podcasts. What I liked most about the podcast is the affirmation that the low-carb way of life is not just a fad or a even a diet–it truly is a way of life that has allowed me to lose almost 50 pounds in 6 months. I still have about 30 pounds to go but I know I’ll get there if I’m steadfast and unwavering in my determination to succeed. I can’t tell you what I liked least about the podcast because there wasn’t anything that I didn’t like. It was informative and entertaining and I appreciate you taking the time and making the effort to produce a podcast that inspires and motivates those of us who are livin’ la vida low carb.”
****************************

When I started this podcast a few weeks ago, I merely wanted to present the message of livin’ la vida low-carb in another format that could potentially reach an audience of people who would not necessarily visit and read my blog. But at the same time, I am extremely grateful for the support my readers have given this show and urge many more of you who believe in the things I write about low-carb to listen.

Don’t just listen, though, get engaged as well by telling others about “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show.” You don’t know how much that would really help show the powers that be in the world of diet and health that low-carb IS still a viable nutritional approach that is being used by millions of people today. There is nothing else in the debate of ideas over health out there like my podcast show and I would like to see it make an inroads into the mainstream of public consumption for diet news and information.

Making a meaningful impact on our culture is going to take more of these “out-of-box” strategies like a podcast show to spread the message. I think we all agree that low-carb lifestyle is beneficial on many levels for both weight and health management, right? So why wouldn’t we want to come together in one accord to bring livin’ la vida low-carb to the masses?

It’s kinda like a church expecting people to come on Sunday mornings without some sort of outreach program. You can have the most friendly people in the whole world, a dynamic and upbeat music ministry, a gifted and annointed preacher, and everything you need for the best church possible. But if nobody knows about it, none of that really matters.

Think of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” in the same way. I spend a good deal of time researching, writing, rewriting, recording, and bringing you the best possible content I can provide on a weekly basis and am considering doing more than one show weekly very soon. But the growth will be predicated on whether people listen to the show or not. Are you enjoying what you are hearing? Is there something I can be doing that would make the show even better? Don’t be shy, share your comments with me at livinlowcarbman@charter.net or click on the comments link below. We REALLY want to hear from you because this show is about YOU!

What an amazing first few weeks it has been with this podcast show as literally hundreds of people in each of the first three weeks have listened to it through iTunes and right here at this web site. But there are hundreds, thousands, even tens or hundreds of thousands MORE people right now who could benefit from learning about the principles of low-carb living while being encouraged by someone who’s been there before himself. Will you commit to sharing about “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” with someone you care about this week? They’ll thank you for it someday when their life is forever changed!

I don’t take any of this for granted and consider it a true honor and a privilege to serve you at my blog and on my podcast show. If nobody cared what I had to say, then there would be no reason for me to keep doing what I am doing. As long as people are being educated, encouraged and inspired to make permanent and lasting changes in their diet and health, then all of the energy and time I have dedicated to these ventures is worth it all! I won’t stop as long as people need help overcoming their obesity and the diseases that come with it. It’s NOT impossible as hopefully my success story illustrates.

THANK YOU so much for your faithful and loving support for what I do to share about livin’ la vida low-carb to a world that is desperately searching for real answers to their weight and health problems. We have the answer for many of them, so let’s be about the business of sharing that answer with them even more as we quickly approach the new year. It’s NEVER too late to begin taking your health seriously enough to get it back on track if you have slipped. As always, I’m here to help.

Tune in to “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore” each week and please do what you can to tell others about the work we are doing. I appreciate that more than you could ever know. If you have a blog or web site, then I urge you to share about the podcast show there. If you do, then send me an e-mail and I’ll post a link to your site as a THANK YOU for your mention.

Remember, it’s not just livin’, your livin’ la vida low-carb! SEE YA!

Well hello all you wild and crazy low-carbers! Welcome back again for yet another heapin’ helpin’ of the Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore! Get ready for another exciting ride today with Episode 3.

Even More Praise Pouring In For ‘The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore’

3 11 2006

“The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore” podcast continues to build momentum as more and more people are finding out about it for the first time. After just two episodes, literally hundreds upons hundreds of people have been exposed to the positive message of livin’ la vida low-carb. I fully expect the audience to grow even bigger as so many of you get the word out about the show. THANK YOU!

The outpouring of support from my fellow low-carb and weight loss web site friends has been rewarding and I am truly grateful for their assistance in getting the word about the show as well. Additionally, I’ve gotten plenty of feedback from the listeners, too!

Before I get to some of that, it’s time to announce the winner of the FREE BOX OF GOLOWER CHOCOLATE CREME BARS. The winner of this contest for correctly identifying the number of times I said “Australia” in Episode 2 as three is…

CATHY C. from ALABAMA!!!

CONGRATULATIONS, Cathy! Enjoy those GoLower Creme bars! You are one of the very first Americans who will have the chance to taste these amazing bars which will be coming to America very soon. ENJOY and THANK YOU for listening!

Here are MORE comments I received about my latest podcast:

It is a great show. The sound quality was much improved for Episode 2. I’m looking forward to future episodes.
*****************
I greatly appreciated the improved sound quality of this episode. The studies you presented were fascinating, and I especially like the way you make thing simple to understand. Do I detect a (slight) Southern accent? I’ve been loving your blog, which I discovered about 6 months ago. The podcast is also a great source of information and encouragement.
*****************
GREAT JOB on your second podcast–people really need to know what’s going on with these studies and you’re doing a great job of getting the word out.
*****************
Although I find your show informative, it is way too short. Just as I am getting “hooked” into listening to what you are saying, you are signing off. Thanks for putting your show out there. More people need to try low carbing.
*****************
I liked the new podcast. I am looking forward to future casts, maybe some with motivation tools for those of us “long timers.”
*****************
Great job!!!!!!! Your show is so informative.
*****************
Loved your show today. I have lost 85 pounds low carbing. When people question the healthiness of this diet, I have so many rebuttals for them because of your blog and now your podcast. Keep up the good work!
*****************
Thanks for starting such a great service! I am an avid reader of your blog but to finally hear you regularly on your podcast really helps me to stay on the right track. The only thing that I can think you can do to improve your show is to: 1. Make it longer 2. Take a longer breath between sentences.
*****************
I just listened to your second podcast, and thought it was even better than the first one! You are in your element, and the enthusiasm comes across loud and clear. Thanks Jimmy for providing us low-carbers with plenty of great information and motivation!
*****************

Once again, I REALLY appreciate the feedback and WANT to hear from YOU! Be sure to check out the feedback left at iTunes as well. THANK YOU to everyone who has commented and feel free to keep sharing your remarks with us!

By the way, my podcast show won’t be longer than 10-15 minutes because it would tend to get boring if it runs longer than that. Perhaps I will consider doing more than one show weekly, but I think the show should get a few more listeners before doing that. If the show hits a certain number of listeners, then I will probably add one or two extra podcasts each week. It will add more work on me, but worth every moment invested to bringing you the best low-carb information possible.

As for providing information for veterans of the low-carb lifestyle, honestly I probably can’t tell those of you in this category ANYTHING about low-carb that you don’t already know through your own personal experience. While I won’t ignore issues that deal with being on low-carb long-term, most of the podcasts will be geared towards helping educate those who don’t know as much about low-carb as you do. Don’t let that discourage you, though. Consider it a refresher course! :D

Tune in on Monday for more of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” as well as another SUPER prize in a contest for listening to Episode 3 next week. You WON’T want to miss it! Please spread the word to your friends, family, and those curious about low-carb living.

Until then, keep on livin’ la vida low-carb!

Having A Blast With ‘The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show’ Podcast

2 11 2006

I really didn’t know exactly what to expect when the fine people over at Grasshopper New Media approached me about doing my own weekly podcast show featuring the low-carb lifestyle from my perspective as I have done at my “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb” blog for the past couple of years. Sure, I had done some Christian music radio work back in the 1990s while I was in graduate school and even hosted my own weekly Christian hit countdown show. That was a lot of fun and I have really missed doing that!

But podcasting is a little bit different from radio. There’s not a LIVE audience you are broadcasting to when you are recording. Thus, there is no way to instantly interact with your listeners in an engaging way about the various topics you are talking about. I suppose you could call that a downside to podcasting, but I don’t.

By the way, in case you’ve missed the first few shows, go check ‘em out:

PROTOTYPE
EPISODE 1
EPISODE 2

The ace in the sleeve of this cutting edge new format is the fact that people can STILL interact in an even better way (IMHO!) by leaving comments about the show. You can do that very easily on any of the posts on this page, at the brand new MySpace.com page for the show, with the super-easy MobaTalk Comment System located just beneath my picture on the right side of this page, and at the iTunes store.

That last one, the iTunes store, is EXTREMELY important for several reasons. First, feedback left there shows other people there is a genuine interest in the show. Second, curious onlookers rely on feedback from fellow podcast listeners to convince them a new podcast is worth trying out for themselves. Of course, if you hated the show, you have a right to share that, too, but I haven’t heard anyone say the show stinks…at least not to my face! :) Finally, it lets us know how we are doing and whether we need to make any improvements.

If you have access to iTunes, I would like to request you do one thing for me: leave SOME kind of feedback there and rate the show regardless of your opinions. I’m a big boy and can take it! If you hated it, then say why. If you loved it, don’t be too shy to share. This may seem insignificant, but your feedback at iTunes could be all that’s needed to move this show into the next level in a short amount of time.

I cannot begin to tell you how much this would help the show continue to ride the early wave of success it has already seen. My goal is for “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show” podcast to reach far beyond the walls of the low-carb community and well into the mainstream of public health circles. Those of us who have made this way of eating our preferred method for eating already know that livin’ la vida low-carb is an extremely healthy lifestyle, but there’s still so much work left to do convincing the vast majority of others this fact. I’ll never stop trying!

Even if you don’t have access to iTunes, we’d still LOVE to read your comments in any of the other formats I mentioned previously. Some of the early feedback I have been receiving about the show has been helpful: They love hearing my voice, it’s exciting to have a new format to learn more about low-carb, I’m talking too fast, the information provided is educational, the show is too short and ends just when it’s getting good, and so much more! THESE are the kind of comments we WANT to hear from you and we are grateful for the constructive criticism as well as the compliments.

You can learn how to subscribe to the RSS feed for the show by clicking here and we even have an e-mail alert system to let you know when new content has been added. Enter your e-mail address in the box located in the upper right-hand section of this page and you will be notified when the site is updated!

Ever since the podcast aired for the first time a couple of weeks ago, the overwhelming support I have received from the low-carb and weight loss communities has been utterly amazing to see. There is not a more loving or caring group of people than those of us who are seeking to help the overweight and obese lose weight and get healthy. This was clearly illustrated by the myriad of mentions my new show has received since its debut.

The following is a rundown of the various comments that have been made about “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore”:

LOW-CARB DAVE

“Will anything stop this man? Jimmy Moore’s enthusiasm for low carb seems unstoppable! I’ve listened to his show and it’s very inspirational. You get that personal passion from his voice, that you cannot get purely from his writing.”

LIVIN’ IN OHIO LOW-CARB

“Wow, what an uplifting experience to be able to hear Jimmy’s voice coming to you through your computer. It’s like having your own radio tuned into your favorite channel. Now you can have Jimmy speak to you right from his website.”

OBESITY DISCUSSION

“For those who have had the pleasure of reading Jimmy’s Livin’ La Vida Low Carb blog, he’s now going podcast! He’s looking to be interactive with his listeners to better his show, so this could be a chance to work closely with a true success story and help him shape his future podcasts!”

THE LOW-CARB LIFESTYLE PODCAST

Fellow low-carb podcaster Diana Schnuth plugs my new show!

KENT ALTENA

“One of the things that impressed me about his first episode is how much of a natural he is in front of the mike. If anyone saw the rough cuts of my [how to do Atkins/low-carb] videos, they would know I am not necessarily the greatest ad libber in the world. Jimmy certainly does not have that problem in print with his prolific defense of the low carb lifestyle, and now it is apparent he does not have the problem orally either.”

BECAUSE I SAID SO

“I don’t mind saying that I will only endorse those that I believe have potential. He’s GOLD I tell you. I listened to the first podcast and not only felt motivated, but laughed and enjoyed listening. Best of all, it was less than 10 minutes long from start to finish. Yeah folks, you can get a weekly dose of carb-controlled, nutrient-dense, advice from a man who actually read and followed the Atkin’s plan.”

KUDOS FOR LOW-CARB

“Jimmy has earned his solid reputation as a low carbohydrate lifestyle advocate, and he deserves the low carb community’s support after everything he has done to promote a healthy low carb lifestyle. This new podcast is an apt and entertaining format for getting the word out about low-carb. Please join Jimmy in this exciting foray into the ever-challenging diet world. No doubt you’ll be entertained and learn something of value.”

THE FREE RADICAL REPORT W/RICHARD MORRIS

“Jimmy proves, once again, that the power to change is in your hands. How you do it is up to you. Just do it. Drop in on Jimmy and check out his new show.”

LOW-CARB CHRISTIANS FORUM

“Check it out–low-carb goes podcast!”

LOW-CARB SCOOP FORUM

Shayne Sherbert, who looks absolutely incredible following her triple-digit low-carb weight loss, gives a shout-out about my new pdocast.

ABOUT LOW-CARB DIETS

“Feeling alone with your low carb way of eating? Would you like a friendly voice in your ear saying “you can do it”, and informing you of the latest news and information about the “low carb lifestyle”? Check out Jimmy Moore’s Livin’ La Vida Low Carb Podcast, with similar themes as his blog and book of the same name.”

NICKI ANDERSON’S REALITY FITNESS NEWSLETTER

“Check out my friend Jimmy Moore’s new podcast. He’s got some good stuff to share and it’s worth checking out!”

ATKINS ALL THE WAY PODCAST

My other fellow low-carb podcaster BrianZ enthusiastically shared about my new show with his listeners.

REGINA WILSHIRE’S WEIGHT OF THE EVIDENCE

“He once weighed over 400 pounds, then lost over 180 of those pounds following a low-carb diet and has never looked back. His strongest belief is that the power to change is in your hands and he hopes the podcasts will inspire. If you’re trying to lose weight - how you do it is up to you. His experience is there to help you ‘Just do it.’ Take a moment and drop on over and check out his new show.”

GRASSHOPPER NEW MEDIA

“The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show was ranked 20th in iTunes for Health-related podcasts. That’s amazing! I think it’s a testament to Jimmy’s audience and the community he and others have built around the low-carb lifestyle.”

LOW-CARB CENTRAL NEWSLETTER
